Description:
I was going for a Middle Eastern type sound with this. I think I got there fairly well. It's kinda hard to make a guitar sound like a sitar. I've been wanting an excuse to put the mandolin on something too. Anyhow, here it is.

None. Although, I often use this piece, while performing live, as an intro to "Reaching."Hardware:

I'm likin' it. I'm a big fan of the world beat/ethnic sound. You should try to
pick up a sitar at some point.

Thanks for the comment. How hard is a sitar to play? I've never even seen one in real life, up close and personal.

Like how the tabla fits right with the acoustic guitar. Cool
Like like your set up to.
bug67
Thanks, the tiler. Means a lot coming from, whom I consider the best acoustic guitarist on this site. Maybe one day I can mesure up. But, like they say, "It's hard to teach an old dog new tricks."

in that Alaskan night air. Nicely done. Everything fits together really well,
expertly played.

I'm picturing Alaskan country-side and the scenery along the miles and
miles of one lane roads (from what I've seen on TV, that is).
This is a beautiful piece of music. Well played and perfectly paced.
Wonderfully lush guitar sound- very, very nice!

Fresh, light, airy. Lovely listen.

What I like about this aside from the great tune and playing is the
production, which just sounds really huge, warm and resonant.

Heard it for the first just after coming home from a loooong day at work,
and it chilled me right out. Nice guitar playing, good production (I love
the way the tabla drums - is that what they're called? - kind of hover in
the mix) and good vibe. Nice.
bug67
Thanks for listening. Glad I could help calm you down after a rough day :)
I don't actually know if the real name of those drums is tabla. The loop I used was called ceramic drum.

Very nice sound. It's doesn't get repetitive or old. Clean and clear!

very smooth & clear, really takes me there...nice work

I'm a total sucker for acoustic guitar, so anything like this is absolutely
the best, in my book.
Reminds me a little of the William Elwood/William Ackerman offerings
of the 80's and 90's (a good thing).
I'd love to hear a whole lot more like this.... Mmm, mmm, good!!
Encore!

I kinda knew you'd like this one when you got around to it. Thank you so much for listening.

Hey, man, look at me rockin' out. I'm on the radio!

I like the overall sound--a very tasty and meditative piece. However, I did find myself wishing something more would happen--I guess maybe a solo or something noodling around a bit. The mando almost fills this roll, but never quite pulls out the rhythm bed.
Excellent acoustic guitar sound--very clean and full sounding. Have you ever listened to Sun Kil Moon?

I've been meaning to check out your stuff for a while and I couldn't resist one with vegetables in the title!
Lovely effect of those layered up reverby strings and different percussion textures. And the mandolin ringing out in contrast to the low resonant guitar ... I like the way the mando gradually creeps forward and becomes more dominant towards the end. A cascade of sound, and a very luxurious one too.
bug67
Glad you liked it. Thanks for stopping by. :)

This is a nice piece and you pot a lot of feelings into it. It's has a little flavor of middle-eastern but maybe mostly Indian or Asian. Very nice guitar work...

You got me from the first note. Makes you want to dance and twirl around the room for the sheer joy of it. Bring on the dancing girls! Thanks.

... I luv the "ethnic" sound in this .... you know ... to my ears ... there are tiny little hints of another favourite tune of mine .... (Into Dust - Mazzy Star) .... something I have always wanted to tinker around with myself ... hmmmmmm the MS thing might not be up for a tinker ... but if your stuff is ... let me know! heh heh

ever tinker with the Eastern flavor and make it a sexier dish?
