Another great tune, Gumbi. You and your crew communicate real drama in the music of this one. I love the way you lead into straight-ahead salsa breaks with their multi-faceted exchanges between the poetic, storytelling and background vocals chanting the harmonies. That is good stuff.
Complex and thoroughly enjoyable music. Artists you all are. Albita better watch her back!
Bravo

The rhythm is wonderful.
Uniting of folkloric music and beautiful melody.
Composition without uselessness.

This is excellent! I don't understand a word that is being sung yet I feel I
understand what you are conveying. Hope, caution, fear, concern, relief
and joy. Well- that's what I get :) Wonderful song-- I love that recurring
piano riff! Not a wasted note!

Even though, I don't understand the lyrics, the song conveys the feeling
of the title. I can relate to the theme of this music. My mother
immigrated to England from Trinidad when she was 18 and then my
family came to the US when I was 8 years old. I have a large family that
has also come from T&T and lives here in the states, in fact, we're all
"Americans," now, though not many of us started that way.
So, I can relate to the feeling of clinging to home, while knowing one
has to take on the ways of a new culture. I look at my daughter, who is
five and she doesn't know anything about the cultures I come from and
I can see that her children may not either, which is sad, how quickly it
disappears.
So, now that I've written my autobiography...I was really trying to say
this is a wonderful song, every element is stellar, the percussion, the
vocals, the bass, the keyboards, the mix. It doesn't get much better
than this. Thanks so much for sharing your music here.

Yo bro, u already know what I think. I am always impressed with your
talents. Especially that u stay grounded around the attitudes an at the
altitudes you play, infectious anyone in your presence an' keep the kulcha
sacredly. It's all good with a bag of plantain chips.

We can hear real hands on real skins here (not always the case) and a real song with real heart. Glad Scorp put you on the list of things to check out, for a new arrival at MJ this spring (mi).

Lots of surprises in this song - just love that riff - takes the listener on a musical journey - definately a biography here - Even though I don't understand the vocals- the whole piece is clearly a story: wonderful.
