A Sharkskin Serenade

Get Flash to see this player.

Description
This finds me back in my favorite meter and back in the days when cool cats wore short hair, skinny ties and "stingy-brim" hats. (I still own several sharkskin suits --all purchased at pawn shops-- but find that I am no longer able to get into them. A pity.)

The sheet music for this piece is available for a nominal fee at
my page at SibeliusMusic where you can also watch the music go by as the tune plays.

Most of the piece is in the Dorian mode (C, D, E-flat, F, G, A, B-flat, C), although I cop-out at the end.

fun stuff
When the music first opens, the hi-hat hits seem a little too fast and
regular, and the bongos later in... the 32nd notes(?) are just too
regular. But a little later on the drum fills seem quite good. But then, I
am horrible at doing *anything* with drums...

The sax seemed nicely scored, fun embellishments and grace notes,
good use of dynamics to build to the ending.

This kind of jazz isn't quite my style, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
Definitely felt as slippery and smooth as a sharkskin suit. And as
usual, would sound much better with real drums & sax. Everything
goes better with real sax.

Drakonis
