Description:
This is an old song that I redid because the old one was done with the pinhole mic. So I rerecorded this and decided to add some harmony for the chorus.

Lyrics:
Used to be the world was a friendly place
Everybody had a familiar face
Life was slow
Then the starter's gun for the human race
Crammed us in the city, a lonely place
For the soul

Chorus:
Late night television in the room
Infomercial selling some new broom
Movies made of Technicolor dreams
Some old man is fishing western streams
And I never really feel alone
With a television and a phone

Some who were around strangers all day long
Lost their way in multi-cultural throng
A nameless face
Packed and moved away to that country air
Neighbor is a deer and a mangy hare
A lonely place

[Chorus]

Doesn't really matter if there're crowds or space
Doesn't really matter whatever the place
That you live
It's all about the people you have met
Whether face to face, phone or internet
Got love to give

[Chorus]

To me this is one of your best. But I am not sure if that is true cause all of
youur stuff is really nice! Like those piano leads as well.

You really are a gifted writer and your singing sounds spot on to me.

Thanks so muc for sharing

Voice Good! Lyrics Great! &mdash 11/26/05 - 02:45:12 PM
I really like this one Joanna. Lonliness is something I have dealt with for
large parts of my life. Sometimes it has been by choice and sometimes
not but this song seemed to fit that mood very nicely. Your voice and
singing sound flawless on this! You have a great knack of being able to
find just the right melody to deliver your message with. Your voice is
so warm and expressive that it makes it a pleasure to listen too.

Wow, Bronco, thank you! I know loneliness can be a huge problem in today's
world, which is, I suppose, why so many of us go online, make friends, and
use our connection to the world via text on a screen to dispell some of those
feelings. I'll always be proud to call you a friend, Bronco.

I'm not sure I heard the original version, but this was done well. Harmonies are nice as well. :)

Thank you, Doofy! This was one of the first songs I did, so no worries on not
remembering it. I'm trying to redo some of my earlier songs, the ones that
were done on the pinhole mic. Just having a little fun.

Thank you, Snowy! I always get nervous when I attempt harmonies. Some
people seem to do it so effortlessly, but not me. I appreciate the vote of
confidence.

This is sad. &mdash 11/27/05 - 07:31:10 PM
Indeed. Good work. Sad, though. As life is in general.

Thank you, IG -- and yes, sad, but there's also hope, as we can always
connect in untraditional ways. Friends are friends, regardless of media.

Don't know what it is... &mdash 11/28/05 - 01:53:05 PM
There is something special with this peace ... Is it the text, is it the sound
or all together that creats that speacial "Roger Waters"-like athmosphere?
That discription doesn't hit the nails head but I can't express it anny
better. Not yet ...

Tank you!

Rene

Thank you, Rene -- perhaps it's just something we can all understand, that
feeling of loneliness and the things we do to keep it at bay. Regardless, I
really appreciate your stopping by to give it a listen and express such positive
thoughts.
