Sunday morning &mdash 11/27/05 - 07:48:13 AM
and this was the perfect companion. Plus it's cold outside and there is
some snow on the ground. Perfectly appropriate and nicely arranged and
well performed.

title &mdash 11/27/05 - 08:03:49 AM
Unfortunately I'm not one for Christmas carols. However, this was
nicely arranged and had some nice moments in it. Since I don't know
the christmas carol that this is based on... theres not much I can
comment on. So nice work eitherway.

great writing &mdash 11/27/05 - 08:09:43 AM
Starts softly, makes me strain forward in my seat, even with hadphones...
very tasteful orchestration, and very realistic sounding, I felt like I was
quietly listening in a hushed amphitheater to a performance, on an icy
cool night. Very nicely done, and yes, a very pretty piece of music! Was
that Joe on french horn back behind the violas? :-)

somber, dark, lovely &mdash 11/27/05 - 06:55:36 PM
This is also one of our favorite carols here at the Project. So dark and
wonderful. Your arrangement is very restrained. Perfect. The brass is
gorgeous. Overall volume level is a little low. Not sure if that's the
cheap headphones here in the NP listening room? Excellent piece.

Lovely! &mdash 11/27/05 - 07:20:44 PM
I love this song, too, and you've done a beautiful setting to it.
Somber, yet warm at the same time.
Love the use of the percussion and the brass.

Thanks so much for posting this here :)

It reminds me of the music from: http://www.ninjai.com/

Calming... &mdash 11/29/05 - 04:05:17 PM
...and beautiful.
Possibly the most realistic use of a synthesized orchestra (JamPack?) I've
heard on here.
Now all I need is some snow to go with it...
Ironic, huh? :)

Comforting wintry scene &mdash 11/30/05 - 04:43:33 AM
This is so well done, I can easily see myself relaxing amongst snow
covered hills and mountains, with a deer or two drinking at the stream.
Thank you for such a wonderful composition.

Soothing &mdash 11/30/05 - 03:57:00 PM
What a beautiful track. A very delicate touch! I like the builds of instruments. Very peaceful. A perfect piece for this time of year. Great job!

Very intellectual piece &mdash 12/03/05 - 11:42:39 AM
Wow, i like it a lot...

Reminds me a bit of Eric Whitacre's "October". Hauntingly beautiful.

I would love to get my hands on a notated version of this piece for a wind
ensemble or orchestra to play.

Very intellectual piece &mdash 12/03/05 - 09:54:03 PM
That's an offer I'd consider. Can you be specific about which ensemble you have
in mind? College level...high school?

Dead Can Dance &mdash 12/04/05 - 07:00:36 AM
The beginning strongly reminds me of a track of "Dead Can Dance". But it
doesn't go the same direction. I appreciate the tender sound of the main
melody, which has something of a civil war theme, but I think it is all a
little bit too much on the low side, lacking a little bit of "drama" (score
buildup).

It has something of a movie score, but the bell adds a slightly pathetic
dent to the track.

I like! &mdash 12/04/05 - 07:41:32 PM
THis tastes like chicken! What did you put into it! The intro sounds evil and cool! The rest of it sounds like something I would have heard on Little House on th Prarrie! Not too shabby! Tasty!

I, too, enjoy this carol &mdash 12/06/05 - 05:24:33 PM
and I like your arrangment of it. The only thing that didn't feel quite right
was the gong sound near the end. Otherwise, nice instrumentation. What
did you use for your double reed? I've used the JamPack 4 (on which I only
like the english horn) and Kontakt ( on which the oboe sounds pretty
good.) This sample was really nice.

Moving Baby, YEAH! &mdash 12/11/05 - 02:46:24 PM
Great stuff, really liked the whole feel, very mellow. The bras really complemented the song then when the bells came in it just topped ot off. Great work, would really appreciate a comment or two on some of my stuff.

Beautiful Restraint &mdash 12/18/05 - 12:43:57 PM
This is an absolutely gorgeous arrangement, Rebecca. I agree with
core, who mentioned the Civil War feel. This brings to mind a bunch of
ragged soldiers, gathered around their last can of beans on Christmas
Day.

The song is a reminder than Christmas is not always the happiest time
of the year, but is often filled with pathos.

Very moving, thank you so much. I'm also very impressed with your
use of the Jam Pack Instruments. I know how hard they can be to mix
and you did it excellently.

The mercury is dropping &mdash 12/31/05 - 12:54:31 AM
Haunting...tranquil and cool... Almost blows a winter chill upon my whole
body. Great going!

Nice meeting you at the chat, Attorney :-).
Good luck in your bar exams!

real nice &mdash 02/21/06 - 01:23:44 PM
This seems like a good piece for a transition in a story. I would expect
the theme to come back ;ater and in full force, opening up more. This is
really nice. I think you could bump up the volume on it overal. Good
work with the arrangement. Maybe add more bass instruments to give it
more presence underneath.
