Description:
I posted this a long time ago, so i am quite sure that none of you remembers the original. I have got a much better Microphone since that, so why not try to record a better version. I tried to do everything right this time, I even recorded it with a clicktrack! This song is actually the first song i ever wrote, it was in 2004. It started with some lyrics that a friend of mine wrote, I have done some changes in the lyrics and added some. Have a good time, and suggestions are most welcome!
Lyrics:
Once again (Selters and Fredrik Helgesen)
History repeats itself once more
But this time I have fallen to hard
Im in an endless void, looking for a door
Feeling like a baby, crawling on the floor.
Once again i cry,
once again you just leave without saying goodbye
I can see the darkness in the air
It feels so heavy this burden to bear.
Its nothing, just like an emptied bag
Weight is light, size is light, but i carry it all alone.
Once again i cry,
once again you just leave without saying goodbye

Nice song, nice performance &mdash 12/01/05 - 04:07:58 PM
The more this went on, the more I got into it. My only criticism
relates to the end when you can hear you putting your instruments
down. I would either have edited that out or left it in and let it fade
out slowly, more naturally. As it stands it's a bit abrupt. Otherwise
great, though. [ Reply to This ]
Nice! &mdash 12/01/05 - 08:46:38 PM
I really like the lyrics and singing in this. Your voice complements the
song well. The guitars sound good and I like how you arranged them in
the mix. Good stuff! [ Reply to This ]
Sure I remember it:) &mdash 12/02/05 - 04:33:00 PM
The chorus is really great. And the guitars that plays that nice melody ...Its a kind of something I wait on to happen during the verse. And when it does, in the chorus, it's very welcome:)
Once again..a favorite from you selters!
And... the guitars is by the way, very well performed on this.

Actually, I do... &mdash 12/04/05 - 05:27:08 AM
...remember the original. I even downloaded it at the time.
This one's a download as well, for sure!
The recording on this one is much cleaner. Very nice vocals and good,
smooth guitarplaying.
I agree with Gibbon about the ending where you put your instruments
down.
Very nice work. [ Reply to This ]
Very simple &mdash 12/04/05 - 12:30:06 PM
but very beautiful in every aspect. Nothing more to add other than I really
like this! Downloaded. [ Reply to This ]
Wow! &mdash 12/04/05 - 03:46:47 PM
selters, I almost missed this... got lost in a bunch of email I was
ignoring...
Right from the first moment, the recording is STARTLINGLY better...
There is sparkle in the acoustic guitar, and you can really hear the
separate guitars... the double vocals have great pitch and great
presence...
The melody is terrific...
Gibbon is right about the ending...it'll feel better if you finish your
takes and count to ten slowly before you move or breathe... then go
back and either chop 'em off at the last bit of real music, or fade them
gradually...
What do you have for a mic now? What is the Adk51?
Now we just have to get you using a Mac and GarageBand...keep your
eyes peeled...there is supposed to be a new Mac mini coming out
soon...

Okay. I see. &mdash 12/04/05 - 03:51:38 PM
The ADK IS your microphone. I hadn't seen one before...
Well, this track is a great recommendation for it...

I really love your style of playing and singing. Able, gentle storytelling
with conviction. Beautiful performance. That mic is spectacular -- what
make and model? Absolute clarity. You put me in the moment. [ Reply to This ]

The microphone is ADK51e Condensor Microphone. I have had it for a while, but it seems like finally have learned how to use it more properly! Thanks you for the comment! [ Reply to This ]

wow &mdash 12/07/05 - 04:51:09 AM
this is beautifully recorded... you've come a long way in all things...
recording quality, performance (guitars/vocals).
this is what the song should've been... the other recording was fine, but
this one really shines!
i should follow your example! [ Reply to This ]
Very Thoughtful &mdash 12/08/05 - 05:54:33 PM
I thought this was a well written song, and the vocals are warm and crystal clear. I'm not a fan of this style of music, but I must say I really liked this song. Well done.
BTW- I like the abruptness of you putting down your guitar. It makes a statement and drives home the message. [ Reply to This ]
lovely &mdash 12/09/05 - 04:15:24 PM
on the crossroads between "Simon and garfunkel" and "The perlfishers". The work of both a brilliant mind and skilled musician. [ Reply to This ]
nicely done &mdash 12/26/05 - 06:05:34 PM
good job on the guitar work, enjoyed the song and your smooth vocals [ Reply to This ]

beautiful &mdash 12/28/05 - 02:11:42 AM
your voice is beautiful on this track. it's going on my sleeping mix. thanks for the link to this :) your voice pops the mic a little in the beggining, wonder if there's a way you can fix that. maybe sing a little further from the mic and amplify it. it only does it once i think near the begining tho, [ Reply to This ]
Beautiful &mdash 12/28/05 - 07:00:26 AM
Good song (meaning with that I will never be able to write a song like this,
in its simplicity), and I like very much the singing, the recording and the
mixing. [ Reply to This ]
So crisp I can hear it crackle... &mdash 12/29/05 - 08:34:55 PM
The guitar and vocals are very crisp and crystal clear. I can hear every
tiny bit of your fingers/fingernails striking the strings. What microphone
did you buy? This inspires me to move on from my dirt-cheap crappy
Radioshack mic to something like yours.
Again, the poetic songwriting and unadorned delivery is superb. Sad and
lonesome. I get the feeling you love to sing songs about hurt and
goodbyes, something I have in common with you, although your style is
truly different from mine. Looking forward to more from you in the
future. [ Reply to This ]

thanks again leon! The mikrophone is an Adk A51 e. A quite cheap Condenser Mic! [ Reply to This ]
Good match &mdash 01/05/06 - 07:20:00 AM
between your great voice and the acoustical guitar. They go well together.
Simple, yet beautiful piece.
God bless,
Rick

Good Recording &mdash 02/11/06 - 10:45:54 PM
Clear, strong vocals and nice tuneful guitars. I have to keep reminding
myself that English is not your first lanquage. You do such a great job
of writing lyrics and singing in English. Songwriting is such a
mysterious, mystical process to start with, I can't imagine having to do
it in a foreign (to me) lanquage. [ Reply to This ]
