This song is why I am proud to be part of the Noel Project, even though
all I did was mix it. The collaboration between Mystified and Curry (and
Jocke and Berndt) was amazing to watch. In fact, the 15 minute
"Swedish language lesson" from Curry is worthy of posting under
Spoken Word/Poerty. It also has some wonderful bonus guitar work
from Johannes. (Maybe he will post the link?)
Cat, your vocals on this, the improvised harmonies, are beautiful. And
your Swedish is flawless. I think? As I told you, this sounds like
Swedish/Country Western to me. Wonderful.
Curry, you and your band laid down a beautiful, restrained and
understated bed for this. Thanks for all your help.
I imagine some people may wonder about the artwork. The girl with
candles on her head? I found this explanation on the Internet, so you
know it's true: Santa Lucia's Day (The feast of Saint Lucia, Dec 13) is
the first day of the Christmas season in Sweden. This day is said to
bear the longest night according to the lunar calendar. Maybe that's
why in Sweden, with such long winters, the love of light is reflected in
this festival. At the crack of dawn, Princess Lucia in a white costume
and crowned with candles walks around serving coffee, bread, and
cookies to the people. A little girl with candles and boys wearing three-
cornered hats will walk with her and sing "Santa Lucia" and other songs
in chorus.
