Description:
they say the third time's a charm... hope it's true.

took a lot of mixing/production advice and this is the result. same vocal and guitar tracks as the last upload, but with some tweaking. and i added an organ track - oddly ended up sounding like strings in some parts...

but here it is. easier on the ears, i believe.

Lyrics:
pretty things circling round my head
pretty things i can't take to you bed
a daze i've dropped into
my gaze is locked on you
all.

i put my eyes on hold
year after year
just so my heart goes cold
when you are near
i put my eyes on hold
i put my eyes on hold

little things i see but don't ever touch
little things i've never wanted so much
put me in the hands of forever
tell me that i'll never never
fall.

i put my eyes on hold
year after year
just so my heart goes cold
when you are near
i put my eyes on hold
i put my eyes on hold

someone get a handle on me
come and get your hands on me
read me my rights
steal me some night

lovely things keep swimming around
lovely things, in you i have found
it all.

i put my eyes on hold
year after year
just so my heart goes cold
when you are near
i put my eyes on hold
i put my eyes on hold

Really beautiful.
Your voice really fits the mood of the piece - very nice performance.
I also really like the subtle touch of the organ in the background. It really
gives the piece more warmth.
Fav'ed and DL'ed!

I must admit i didnt hear much different between #2 and #3.
I really love the sound of your organ, and I agree it sometimes sound like strings, which i consider a good thing. It seems to me that your vocals are as much upfront as they were, but still they are a bit lower!! This is a much more soothing piece now. I have always the agressive aproach to your tunes, but I must say i might like this even more! Really beautiful!!! Now i just wait to hear you do the same thing with OXheart John!!

Sounding better &mdash 12/14/05 - 01:47:12 PM
I like this mix. I suppose one could add just a touch of reverb to the
voice. It begs to be spread a little wider. Your de-essed vox track is
better now.

Really, a very pathos-drenched song. Great job with guitar and vocal
styling.

really strong &mdash 12/14/05 - 04:29:10 PM
I guess I missed v2 but v3 is a real nice improvement over v1, which I
liked. As I said before, your vocals, the lyrics and delivery are
tremendously powerful. I like the addidtion of the synth stuff. I think
the recording and mixing could be better (though it's not unpleasant at
all as is). I think there needs to be more stereo separation of elements
to let them make room for each other a little better. Personally, I'd like
to hear the guitar sound more up close with the vocals so it sounds
performed by the singer rather than by someone further away in the
back of the room. There are various little tonal and effect things that I
think could enhance the sound quite a bit but it generally does sound
quite good as is.

Me likey.

Organ, great touch &mdash 12/15/05 - 08:08:30 AM
I didn't hear v1 or 2, but this is very nice. I'm torn between being on a less reverb kick and agreeing that I could go for a touch more on the vox to make it a little broader. Also, to my ears, the acoustic guitar is up slightly high in the mix, and dominates the sound in places, but it could just be my crappy headphones. Nice song! Now I gotta check out the other versions.

A nice improvement &mdash 12/15/05 - 08:38:31 AM
The use of the organ was nice. It added a little more depth to the
sound, widend it a little and helped to create even more of a sense of
background/foreground.

Some of my comments still stand from the last mix... would've still
liked a little more warmth in the guitar... or perhaps some bass pedals
from the organ instead.

Your vocals also sounded a little better too (they did distort a little at
one point, though I don't know if thats your fault though).

Nice update.

Really like this &mdash 12/16/05 - 07:40:24 PM
still. This is a much improved mix. Organ did lend a nice touch- kinda
strange how it sounds like strings, huh? In fact, I clearly was hearing
some cello in the mix.

The guitar sounds good but I agree with some others that it could be
warmer. In any case, a very well done song!

this is quite emotive, and almost makes me a little uncomfortable
in the intimacy of the vocal performance.
i guess it's a bit heavy, but there is a quality about it that is so
direct and honest that i gotta keep listening.
