Description
I was on this dream island, Tobago, and my friends told me about this beautiful town. The road curved around these vine covered coral walls, it swept down a steep hill, the road ended at the glassy still sea. In the distance we could hear one lone steel drum. On this island the steel drum (pan music) is the sport and pride of towns and the people. Huge steel drum bands are formed representing towns and neighborhoods. At the town center this lone pan player was practicing, surounded by townspeople. They were all making suggestions as to how he should embellish or accentuate some part of the tune he was playing. My friends and I milled around in the crowd in total awe. The music had drawn us there. The pan man spotted our little white faces in the crowd winked at us and with a big grin disreguarded the peanut gallery and just began sharing his music. Dis song is for all de pan musicians on Tobago mon.
