Best with headphones! A re-recording that I think turned out a little cleaner. If anyone feels inspired to add a little bass or piano, please shoot me an email! Hope you guys like it.

Hard hitting lyrics. I am roped in even before I press the play button...

Oh, man. The experience just got better. You really lay it out with
energy and clarity. The hard truth that peels away the hypocrisy. High
marks. I especially like the chorus. Sweet. I also like the change-ups on
"presence" -- i.e. fast switches from wet (reverbed) to dry (unreverbed).
With minimal instrumentation and percussion, you strongly focus on
the message.

The wet/dry change was originally a mistake, but I kept it in just for some variation. Thanks for taking the time to let the lyrics sink in before listening! Patience is a virtue.

I still feel like this song screams out for a bass line to be complete, but thanks for listening!

This is great Josh! Reminds me a little of james Blunt, but cooler. I really like the lyrics on this one. The melody seems to grow stronger all the way. And i think there is nothing wrong with the soundl. The only thing that bottered me a little was the echo in the start, not my think, but thats me. I Really liked this tune! It will we downloaded and faved!! Thanks a lot!

This is just excellent songwriting, the lyrics are nice and specific and
the melody is stick-in-your-head great. You said in your bio that you
know you're not good enough to "make it" and I'm going to have to
disagree with you.

If you can get over your production hurdles, you'll be able to produce a
really great demo and then, who knows?

What type of mic are you using, because it could be the mic as much as
the lack of pre-amp. What I'm hearing as much as hiss is that the
whole track sounds a little muddy or over compressed. I think you
could get some of the mud out by applying a little cut in the low mids
(try 2DB between 200-300 Hz) on the master track.

I really hope you get good set-up soon. I doesn't have to be expensive.
I use an MXL-990 mic, which was about $55 and a Eurorack UB802
mixer (which also supplies power to the mic) which was about $45.
Your music is worth getting a good set-up, that's for sure.

Oh yes, almost forgot, lovely, lovely harmonies.

Really nicely put together; simple but very dynamic. I love the way it
slips so effortlessly in and out of tempos. You have a wonderful voice
and use it so well. I could have done without the reverb on that first
section. And being a meter-freak I would have sung that line "there
was one I like but couldn't comprehend" as " there was one I couldn't
comprehend" because it would flow better... and it's obvious from the
song that you like her. But you might like the sense of cramming all
those syllables into one line.. This will sound great with that bass and
drums on it.

Came across this whilst browsing through the site - this is excellent.

You've got a realy good voice, and I love the structure of this - the tempo changes make it really dynamic. Needs some bass, and personnaly I'd have a heavier guitar sound, but I could definately hear this being on the radio at some stage. I'll be checking out some of your other tracks for sure.

..sing! Excellent voice and very good lyrics.
The melody is very nice and the songwriting in general is somethin to be
proud of.
I really hope you get some bass on this it would really give it more depth
and power. I think you could also pull the guitar a bit up.
But then again, that's just my humble opinion :)
All in all, a very nice song.

Yeah, bass is essential...know any bass players? :)

As for the guitar, all in all I think it's a little weak, and sounded just a shade flat. That's why I tried to hide it a litt;le bit. Thanks for the suggestions! Your stuff rocks.

All around, a terrific piece of songwriting, filled with passion and variety.

My only suggestion would be to bring up the other elements of the mix a
bit --- especially the harmonies --- to meet the lead vocal. I understand
the concept of highlighting the message, but it's still needs to feature its
musical strengths.

Technical issues aside, this is a very interesting piece. Well done.

the panning and stuff is crazy and adds alot. at some points it sort of hurts my ears though. it has a sort of under water feel to it, i like it.
