Description:
The words to this 19th Century Christmas hymn were written by Christina Rossetti. The tune, known as "Gartan," comes from the 1902 edition of "Petrie Collection of Irish Melodies, Part II."

The Noel Project arrangement takes some liberties with the tune, and with Rosetti's lyrics. Like the other songs posted on the Noel Project page, this one is included on our new CD, Splendor Bright.

Vocals: Mystified
Arrangement, software instruments, vocals: Tom Atwood

Dedicated to Alimar, who is having surgery today.

(Artwork is the CD disc face from Splendor Bright, by Mystified and Alimar)

Lyrics:
Love came down at Christmas,
Love all lovely, love divine;
Love was born at Christmas:
Star and angels gave the sign.

Worship we the Christ-child,
Love incarnate, love divine;
Worship we our Jesus,
But wherewith for sacred sign?

Love shall be our token;
Love be yours and love be mine,
Love to God and neighbor, love for plea and gift and sign.

Love to all at Christmastime!

And a beautiful song. Wonderful collab, beautiful vocals all around. I love the holidays. They inspire some wonderful things.

Thanks joshosh18. The Noel Project was never really a cause, but the
Splendor Bright CD did become a rather large project. I am glad we did it (and
glad it is done!) Thanks!

Joyous choral voices.... &mdash 12/15/05 - 03:45:44 PM
singing "Love to all at Christmastime." This piece is so very
full with variations of beautiful vocals and instruments. Tom,
your arranging is right up there on this song. The subtle horns
and Mysti's voice leading to the bursting joy of strings and
choral voices of the finale. It is like a minature symphony.
Thanks for these moments of joy and praise in this season
of celebrating the birth of Christ.

Jack

Thanks Jack, especially for your comments about the arrangement. I am
always eager to arrange for Cat's vocals, but am usually reluctant to sing with
her, for obvious reasons. Too bad she can't sing SATB.

I hope you enjoy the CD. Thanks again.

A wonderful contribution &mdash 12/16/05 - 04:22:55 AM
A wonderful contribution! Filled with Christmas mood, yet not
sentimental.

Cat and Tom, you have developed a style and technique that I can't
distinguish from professional. Yet so full of life!

Christmas when harmony is beautiful. &mdash 12/16/05 - 06:13:02 AM
Sound of singing voice, wind instrument, and iron.
The composition is wonderful.
The sound splashes.

Takes me back &mdash 12/19/05 - 05:46:51 AM
Reminds me of when I used to play trumpet in various brass choirs, in
high school and college.

Vocals and vocal arrangements are well-done and well-executed.
You've managed to evoke a very worshipful attitude in this track, for
that I thank you.
