One of two original pieces on my holiday CD. I wrote this on a quiet morning around 7 am on the first snow fall of the year. I think of it as a nice reflection piece.

pretty and sweet &mdash 12/16/05 - 11:58:54 PM
Really nice piece of music. I like how you blend in a familar holiday
theme here and there capturing the season. Very nicely done.

Kyle, this piece is well-constructed. Sensitively played, and shows
evidence of many hours of planning.

Do your piano sounds come from your Yamaha C3 piano, or is it a
software instrument accessible through Logic?

Keep up the good work, and best wishes on your CD.

John

Thanks - My rig is a such -
My C3 Midi grand is connected to my Yamaha P-150 electric. The accoustic
piano sound is a preset on the P-150. I am working on tuning my room a little
so i can record the Grand Piano directly, but for now, it sounds very thin and
tinny (more so than the electric) I have listened to some of your tracks, which I
enjoy, and notice that you are using the Ivory softsynth - do you like it?

Thanks for you comments -

Yes, I like Ivory very much. It truly has become my right arm -- can't imagine
making piano recordings without it anymore.

I noticed you were considering using mics on your Midi Grand. For the cost
of a couple of good microphones, you could be using Synthogy Ivory as your
main source of piano sounds -- plus you wouldn't have to worry about
tuning, or mic placement, and you'd be able to manipulate notes after the
fact, in GB or Logic. You do have to have an extra hard drive, to store Ivory,
but beyond that, you'd be good to go.

And the people at Synthogy are not paying me to say this! :-)

Plus with Synthogy, you don't have to wait for a quiet time at your house
before you can record.

And the list goes on -- Synthogy is a slam-dunk great product.

Welcome to MacJams, Kyle. Excellent first posts. The tone of your piano
sounds very bright to me, a wintery feel.

Thanks Tom -

It seems you are a trusted listener around here, and I welcome your comments. I
do hope to start recording the Grand Piano directly when I can get a better
sound. Do you have any suggestions on good piano mics? Have you tried/heard
of the DPA mics?

Catching up here.... &mdash 01/08/06 - 11:47:21 PM
...and missed this one earlier.

Lovely, lovely piece! Very much sounds like the perfect thing to go with a
light snowfall on a meditative morning. I like how you have woven hints of
familiar carols in here and there.

Once again...lovely :)
Thank you for this!

Pensive. Captures the mood of winter with a touch of wonder and hope.
Some deeper tones would fill out the piece. A gentle cello accompaniment
would be great. Are you listening Yo-Yo ?

Beautiful. Wonderful open voicings, a hint of Away In The Manger, and
full of love and blessings. Gentle and pure. Wonderful track.
