Description
My wife's and my favorite holiday tune turned out to be the same... "Carol of the Bells". For a few years I went on an internet quest (mp3.com) and found various renditions of "Carol of the Bells" (heavy metal, Salsa, jazz, a capella, trance, etc.) and each year I'd give my wife a CD of a bunch of the best variations I'd found. On the third and final year (2002), I not only had a bunch of versions, I also had written my own Bach-like arrangement (entitled "Belle Fugue", posted here on Macjams), and a performance I recorded of her famous jazz-pianist father doing his own jazzy interpretation. But the opening track of the CD was this silly little skit I did with myself and her son (doing the horribly fake Irish accent.) The skit "explained" why the CD that particular year was entitled "Barrel of the Kells". But the funniest part was the actual piece of music played, and what it was played on.
Update: by popular demand, I have written out the full version of this song as well.
