This is truly remarkable
This has to be one of the nicest pieces that I've heard in a long time
ANYWHERE!

JMT! DUDE! SaaaWEET!

I'm skip'n the prozac and I'll just have another listen please...

I don't have a skateboard, so I never use this word, but I will refer you
to what I'm wanting to express:

AWESOME!

adj : inspiring awe or admiration or wonder; "New York is an amazing
city"; "the Grand Canyon is an awe-inspiring sight"; "the awesome
complexity of the universe"; "this sea, whose gently awful stirrings
seem to speak of some hidden soul beneath"- Melville; "Westminster
Hall's awing majesty, so vast, so HIGH ...

This is truly remarkable
Thanks so much! Glad you liked this one, it's a bit different than the others I've posted... pokin' around a bit, y'know. This one came at me all at once, there was no stopping it! Funny how that happens... Peace!

OOh
what nice find in amongst the new songs up.
Great sounds blended together. Just my personal preference would have
been to take out the recorders ( or add a couple effects over to soften
them) which seem to add a harsh element that jars slightly with the rest.
But apart from that, this is nicely arranged and produced. hehe, lots of
hard work went into this one I can hear.

OOh
Thank you, SlimGirlFat, for taking the time to listen and comment and D/L! I appreciate it.

About the recorders... This brought to mind a lyric by Marc Almond - "A taxi driver starts to sing one of my songs, one that I like the least. He says 'That was the only one I liked!' My face cracked! My misery increased, oh my misery..." Heh heh... The recorders, for me, were the whole basis for the tune! The harshness was intentional, although the mix of three seperate recorder tracks was rather messy. Lots of volume and panning issues...

Thanks again for listening and for your kind words.

Great listening!
I just listened on my Pbook speakers, since I lack the energy to hook up
to my speaker system : ) It's evocative and you use an interesting mix of
instruments. For ease of listening, the recorders could be toned down,
but on the other hand, to get the feeling of 'sad'ness across to listeners,
maybe the sound you have is exactly what you need there.

sad but contemplative
Enjoyable variations on a theme. I like the recorders - they add an
acoustic edge and also a sense of 'longing' to my ears.

It's the mix...
...of contrasting elements and timbres, the clean versus the distorted,
the rhythm that is just not quite what one might expect...

On my system, the slightly breathy/dissonant recorders are just about
right... if they were more forward, I could see them as grating, but the
mix works on my speakers...

Speaking as psychotherapist and New Englander at the dark of the
year, this is certainly an evocative soundtrack for the whole SAD
experience...

Must run. Have to go read by the light box...

stirring
Wow, really great , moody piece. So many great voices from those
instruments, going from haunting dissonance to lush warm chords. Very
powerful. While you did a great job of keeping it changing in textures
and tones and layers I think it could benefit from more melodic change-
ups in sections, like a kind of bridge where the basic progression changes
completely or perhaps just a key shift. The piece works very well as is but
I suspect that a little more variation in the melody would make it even
better.

I think you really nailed the emotion, the whole concept is brilliantly
captured. Minor critical point aside, I think this is excellent, a DL for me.

Very nice
what is that, a drawn sword sound? This is a piece that's just all over the map, with so many different elements seemingly in contrast with one another, but truly uniting to form a disturbing mental picture. It begins to lose that jagged cohesion towards the middle when it's just the bass synth and the delayed pizzicato, but soon picks rthe mood right back up again. Nice work!

Incredible piece!
Very very well done... excellent and intruiging choice of
instruments and sounds (especially the recorder and ukelele,
although the bass was very cool, too)... moody and emotionally
effective... definitely the best I have heard from you so far.

This piece speaks volumes to me. Deep, dark and sincere. Your cover art is highly intriguing as well. Artful and timely contribution. Look forward to hearing your other tunes. And, thank you for your very kind comment.

Cool sound effects.
This is very atmospheric. Interesting contrast with the synthetic sounds,
the recorder, and the, ehm, sounds that I have no idea how you got them.
Nice piece. -- Victor.
