acoustic guitar spoken word wonder (1)
Description:
a little acoustic ditty I've been playing around with for some time. I was thinking of trying to write and sing some additional verses but neither come easy to me and so I have opted for just one verse in spoken word to test the waters. Do you think this works? I'd be really grateful for any comments or sugggestions.

cheers and happy new year to all!

Lyrics:
The sun arcs across the sky
From dawn to dusk indifferent
To the fate of you or I

The wind blows, the river flows
But where this journey takes us
Nobody really knows

To some it’s one big mystery
To others just a game
And I don’t even know your name
And you don’t even know my name

This is a nice little tune...I like the spoken vocal style..almost a bit Johnny
Cash sounding. Lovely acoustic playing and sound

so full &mdash 01/01/06 - 03:04:28 PM
the guitars sound very rich. Is there a 12 string in there, or did you double the tracks a few times? Either way, very nice production on the sound.

thanks for listening and commenting Josh ... much appreciated. You are right about duplicating both guitar tracks to give a fuller sound. I used a bit of panning and put a very slight delay in one track; I guess this is where that 12 string sound comes from.

This has a really nice roll to it... Very clean production and the playing is superb. Excellent lyrics too! This conjurs up Tom Waits in many ways. Nice to meet you...

many thanks jmt .... I really appreciate your encouraging comments. I recently bought a decent pair of headphones (sennheiser) and I think they make quite a difference when trying to mix and balance tracks; until recently I did all my listening aand mixing through ipod ear buds and I hear stuff now that was inaudible on these.
cheers,
Phil

The voice doesn't work with the song. Just sounds to empty

nice poetic piece. nice guitar playing. i think after the spoken part you could later in the song go through and sing the piece perhaps or sing a part of it so it has sort of a build up of emotion or something. it's really nice as is though. this was posted a couple years ago so for all i know you did just that lol.
