Description:
***Besides what I mentioned below, I would also like to dedicate this version of Hero's Dust to the 12 who didn't survice the Mine accident in West Va. And of course *Randal Mcloy*, the one who has. And hopefully with our prays he will have a total recovery. Plus all the workers and engineers that tried their best to save all of them.

I am a Vietnam veteran, I spent 358 days in war zones during the Vietnam war. I came close to being killed by a bomb. The bomb knocked me off my rack and I hit the lockers. The whistle of the bomb was very scary!!!! It woke me up just before it came in.

Of course I didn't get real close or I would of been dead. But I would like to dedicate this revised Hero's Dust to the three officers near where our barracks were located that didn't make it.

There was a time when a bomb came in and the metal from the bombs hit our bunks. Luckily most of us were working on night shift.

Again I would like to dedicate this version to those officers!

I have played this tune in two Vietnam Veteran fairs. One hosted by Country Joe Macdonald. He heard me play and invited me to play the 2nd fair at the Old Waldorf in San Francisco!
The first one was at the Civic Auditorium in San Francisco as well.

*******
This is a brand new (about 2 hours old) as of this typing of Hero's Dust. I play Betsy my Santa Cruz Om/PW acoustical guitar. When I got off work from bidding on a bathroom, sent off the email for the bid and sat down and recorded a revisited version of Hero's Dust but using Betsy.

Hardware:
2 mics
RNP preamp 2 channels, not much to look at but seems to do the job.

Software:
GB2

Hero's dust has always been one of my favorite song on MacJams, as well
as being one of the first I heard when I got here. I even think I'm safe to
say that it was one of the reason that convinced me to stay.

Such emotional writing and teriffic playing. You and Betsy are probably
one of the best instrumental duets here :)

Great piece of music.

Thank you for sharing.

Hi Bill, as I said on iCom, much mellower than the original. What did you
play then, if not Betsy?

Wonderful tribute!

I think this is really gorgeous, masterful picking and tone! I like the
quotes from Pinball Wizard you throw in there (well it sounds like it
anyway!)
Very accomplished and a moving tribute

Amazed every time... &mdash 01/06/06 - 01:49:14 PM
... your fingers touch a fretboard. Amazinig work Bill. I dug the little
tribute to the Who in the middle there. I wish i had a 10th of your chops.

...interesting though, my head is hearing this as a full band instrumental,
maybe something some abitious macjammers could do.

Fabulous.

Sensational &mdash 01/07/06 - 12:17:19 AM
First of all, and at the risk of sounding hackneyed, that is some
amazing guitar playing, Tiles.

I love how you flow so seamlessly from one section to another; and
that is no mean feat considering how diverse those sections are.

Wonderful stuff. A pleasure to listen to.

Tiler, on this one... &mdash 01/07/06 - 01:30:55 PM
...your time is so perfect that it's beyond perfect...on this one, the tune
breathes...

Your playing here is not just a recitation of the notes of the tune...there's
feeling and space and air here...

A nice spirit, all the way through the piece..

I like 'em both &mdash 03/02/06 - 02:05:38 AM
Just left a more detailed about the older version for you, but just wanted
to add that I like them both. I like the sound of the guitar a little better
on this one. It's a different guitar, I gather, but maybe it's recorded
differently too? Great job.
