Description:
Ha - it's a party song - something for everyone to dance and relate to(hopefully).

Lyrics:
Everybody Party Now!
Kristin Colier

It’s 7 am I got the radio on in my car
Forty-five minutes in traffic, haven’t gotten too far
I’m dreamin’ ‘bout goin’ to work, in ripped up jeans and a concert shirt
And calling my boss a “jerk”

Yeah, but I haven’t even started my day
I jump up on my desk, get on the PA,
and I say….

Everybody Party Now!
Everybody get up and get down
Your office is your prison and it’s time to break out
Everybody Party Now!

I Xerox my backside and post it on the break room door
Throw my files up like confetti, but I’m just getting’ ready for more
Send an e-mail to the CEO and tell him where he can go
It’s time for me to run this show

Yeah, I’ve been wasting time from 9 to 5
I’m gonna have some fun, baby, while I’m still alive
Alright….

Everybody Party Now!
Everybody get up and get down
Your cubicle’s your coffin and it’s time to live it up
Everybody Party Now!

Everybody Party Now!
Everybody get up and get down
Your paycheck’s an addiction and it’s time to come clean
Everybody Party Now!

It’s 7:03 I got the radio on in my car
Forty-eight minutes in traffic, haven’t gotten too far

Great lyrics. You've got a great voice for this style of music, too. Nice

Thanks! &mdash 01/03/06 - 12:35:03 PM
Hi All - thanks for the feedback and going easy on me.
I can't take credit for the singing or the guitar. Tricia Grey is singing - though I am in the chorus at the end when everyone joins in.
Cheers, Peace and Happy New Year

Great song &mdash 01/03/06 - 12:44:49 PM
This could definitely be snapped up by someone in the Nashville circuit - with an eye and an ear towards that, a couple of suggestions. The line "I%u2019m dreamin%u2019 %u2018bout goin%u2019 to work, in ripped up jeans and a concert shirt" would be a little tough for just about anyone to pull off - perhaps this could be phrased another way so as to make it more accessible both for the singer and the listener. Also the pre-chorus build up seems to start off like another verse, and has a similar structure, but it's really a lead-in to the chorus - so it seems like something just a little bit different should be happening here. It's such a short segment, sounds like a bigger build should be taking place there. Otherwise, this has definite cross-over appeal, the singer has a voice sort of like Tanya Tucker (I go old-school country, couldn't tell you anything about the current crop), yet this tune could easily be a Sheryl Crow tune as well. The lyrics are fantabulous and I love how it all turns out to be a commuting daydream. Who wouldn't want to rebel this way? This is the best "Take This Job And Shove It" song I've heard since, well, "Take This Job And Shove It." Sweet!

Great song &mdash 01/08/06 - 07:58:45 AM
Thanks! I totally agree with your feedback. That one line has always felt wrong to me - but I haven't dreamed up a new one yet... usually, those needed lines pop into my head in the shower... true about the lift too - I'm usually the one reminding folks to separate their versus and choruses better - and yet, well, here I go doing it...
Peace.

Nice Jive! &mdash 01/03/06 - 12:45:39 PM
My pet turkey dug it! I think you should have got on the desk and stripped all your close off! What would your boss do in that situation?

slick and fun &mdash 01/03/06 - 03:02:11 PM
Great tune. You sound pro. I love your voice and all that twangy guitar.
You sound like you'd fit in with the music scene here in Austin. Reminds
me a little of Michelle Shocked, mixing a little alt-country and pop-rock.

Party On!

You'll be hanging with us lowlifes for long. Tremendous song writing and
as good or better than anything I'm hearing on the radio lately- pop or
country. If they haven't maybe you should be put under contract now.
Tricia's got a great voice and delivery and does those lyrics complete
justice. Very tasty guitar solo and tight production! SWEEET!

Kudos.... a great song, really a classic, shades of country and pop.
Your lyrics are so much fun and ... well, I just really enjoyed this tune.
Nice having you here at macjams.

Hopping &mdash 01/04/06 - 05:55:43 PM
Very nice Peace, the lyrics are funny and clever. Though this isn't the sort of music I usually listen to, I do like the groove and the fun in the chorus. By the way, was there a wiggly voice during the choruses at the end? I'm impressed by your lyrics; maybe sometime we can work on a song together.

Nice tune. I would like to echo Dreadmon's comments regarding phrasing and the "pre-chours". My two cents on the mix is that #1-The vocals are touch too loud, and #2- The guitar is a touch too low. All in all,I think you did a good job and I think you're talented. Looking forward to more...

Rocking good fun in the office! &mdash 01/08/06 - 03:20:43 AM
This is really enjoyable...a very solid professional tune, great vocals and
guitar work. They lyrics are really fun too - something most of us 9-5'ers
can relate to.

I like this song! To add my two cents, take it or leave it...(and save yourself a shower or two!hahaha!)
How about (for the third line):

I'm sippin' my coffee thinkin', today's the day I'll do it,
An' tell the Boss he's a jerk

(this is my first post- I hope it's okay to be helpful this way)

Great sound, PeaceGirl. Your voice is fantastic! I'm excited about
finding this song. I love Sheryl Crow; there's definitely some Sheryl
about this, particularly in the chorus. Well produced - nice crisp, clean
sound. Well done!

Pink, Bonnie Raitt and Joan Jett there too? &mdash 01/11/06 - 12:24:08 PM
Great vocals, really catching the feel of a party that includes Pink and
Bonnie Raitt. This could be a party mix classic. Nice guitar solo too.
Kudos to the band as well.

I don't know why i like this &mdash 01/23/06 - 09:18:42 PM
but I do

I think it's coz you don't take it too seriously.

I'm not a big country music fan but i think it's best when you just have fun with it. Having sed that, this is well recorded and produced.

Pissup in the office 2nite!!!

I'm ready! &mdash 02/08/06 - 01:10:09 PM
First of all, I LOVE this song! Reminiscent of Gretchen Wilson, just in the
wonderful hardcore "screw you to the man" lyrics.

I also really love your voice! I love a clean vocal track that just allows the
singer to sing, and you do! Sometimes, a story/song calls for some effects
on the vocals, but not here, and you were so smart to leave it pure for us
to listen to. Thanks so much for a great song. I'm going to listen to more
of your stuff now.

Makes me laugh and dance! &mdash 02/11/07 - 11:03:23 AM
This song made me laugh and get up and dance! Beneath the surface of this light ditty though is an important message about "stuckness" --- being stuck in traffic, being stuck in a job, the society being stuck in greed, the country being stuck in Iraq. Oops. I made that last one up. But you get the picture. It is part of the human condition. We start doing something and it seems okay at first and by the time we dimly realize we are "stuck" we are often TOO stuck to do anything about it. (Brer' Rabbit and the Tar-Baby). Yet, these lyrics and this tune encourage us to consider the LIFE we have beneath our corporate image, our routines, our clothes. The singer's attitude in the performance nicely mirrors this. It reminds me somehow of Zorba the Greek --- and especially the scene where he dances after his great risky enterprise falls apart.
