Great symphony intro &mdash 01/05/06 - 11:57:14 AM
This is a great intro for a symphony. Sounds like you are giving Tom
Atwood some competition ... or company, depending on which angle we
see it from.
Looking forwards to hear the next! ...

I'd rather be in company with Tom. There is no way I could compete. I'm a rookie
in comparison.
Thanks so much for your comment Curry. Great to hear from you.
God bless,
Rick

Very interesting use of loops, Rick. I especially like the opening line of this
piece, which I am guessing is NOT loops? It is a very nice piece. I look forward
to hearing the rest of your symphony as it develops.

Great symphony intro &mdash 01/06/06 - 06:18:49 AM
Hi Tom! I was hoping you would stop by for a listen. I tried to integrate the
loops and my own playing so that they would be indistinguishable. It's not easy
because I've never played keyboards before. But I'm learning!
Your kind comments, along with those of others whom I consider masters of
composition, make my heart glad.
God bless,
Rick

music to my ears... &mdash 01/05/06 - 12:05:49 PM
You did all that on a keyboard? Wow. I need to learn this stuff, or at
least try it. Amazingly good. I can feel the power of God creating the
heavens in this piece. Thank you for sharing it with us. [ Reply to This ]

I only did some of it on keyboard; piano and strings mostly. I'm still learning and
have a long way to go. The rest was done with GarageBand loops from Jam Pack
4.
Thanks for the nice compliment.
God bless,
Rick

I'm not too familiar... &mdash 01/06/06 - 11:44:46 PM
...with the loops from JP4 (they take up SO MUCH HD space), but you
seemed to have integrated your live playing with the loops you chose,
very well. There is organization, and definite moods set. It will be
interesting to see how this progresses into the five remaining parts of
your symphony. You may just be able to play more ... and loop less! [ Reply to This ]

Thank you Al, for taking a listen and commenting. It means a lot to me. Yes, I do
hope to play more for the second movement. Learning the piano on my own is
going well. Who says you can't teach old dogs new tricks? :-)
Thanks again, and God bless,
Rick

I don't care how you did it (actually I do!), but I'm overjoyed that you did.
What an interesting and inspiring piece. I may have to give up my online
name and surrender it to you! [ Reply to This ]

Ha, ha, thanks Mike, but I am lousy at conducting. All I know what to do is wave
my arms around. :-)
God bless,
Rick

Hi Rick &mdash 01/09/07 - 09:49:06 AM
Hi Rick, you mailed me and asked for a translation. Seems like Sunbeam has learnt to get around on her own on internet, and it seems like she has been around quite a lot these last days of Christmas vacation. Here is the translation:

intricate &mdash 03/12/07 - 06:54:00 PM
and so well done. The patience this must have taken! Well conceived and executed. The piano sounds good...is that you playing?
Jam packs stuff sounds great. Nice selection and arrangement of clips. [ Reply to This ]
Re: intricate &mdash 03/15/07 - 07:45:47 AM
Thanks for the visit and comment ktb. Yes, some of the piano, and some string work, is me on my keystation 61es. Although I can't play, I had to improvise in places where I couldn't find a loop that said quite what I wanted to say.
God bless,
Rick
