Description:
another...
Lyrics:
i tried to be cruel,
but i think i lost my touch...
i tried to be cruel:
you didn't used to mean so much...
but if i was unkind,
there's something i should say:
i think it's time we decided
who is leaving
and who is left...
i tried to be cruel,
but it was all for show...
because i can't do without you
and now, everybody knows...
how lovers always leave
these missing puzzle pieces...
-they'll stay incomplete
the way we need them...

it reminds me of trent reznor's voice mixed with a sort of grungy mellow feel. i like that combination. vocally this song is great. pretty good song. [ Reply to This ]

You and Peter Greenstone are two of the most professional - sounding MacJammers, and I always look forward to your new songs. This is another winner.
I'd be interested in the equipment and software that you use. I hear a decent mike, real drums (or a drum machine that I covet) and software other than GB.
Please let us know on your next release.

One of your best &mdash 01/08/06 - 06:30:52 AM
Jon- I like this one best so far. The warmth and intimacy of the vocal
really makes this special.
I know you take a little (okay, a lot) of flack about the length of your
songs... but you do a helluva a job getting your point across in them. Nice
one! [ Reply to This ]
The mystery... &mdash 01/08/06 - 07:34:28 AM
...that is jonx strikes again.
You have such a professional sound that it's not even funny.
Great work. [ Reply to This ]
C'mon! &mdash 01/09/06 - 11:52:27 PM
Who are you?... really. Give it up. What does jonx mean, anyway? O.K.,
I'm just rambling because I don't know what to say that I haven't
already. This is genius, ect ect, you probably know my spiel by now. [ Reply to This ]
Classic &mdash 01/10/06 - 10:12:53 AM
Another instant classic, strong lyrics and strong tune. Nice arrangement
and performance all around. But the metallic edge on your vocals hurts
my ears, especially on your s's and t's. But another wonderful tune. I
wrote a poem about this sort of thing a couple years ago, Puzzle People
. Thought
you might get a kick out of the parallels. [ Reply to This ]

You are an excellent songwriter to study, you do everything very well, I
study your work more than others. You are consistently very good.
Lyrically, you are outstanding. I enjoy all your songs, Jon or Jon X or
Mr. X. The mysterious Mr. X. That's who you are, the myterious Mr. X [ Reply to This ]
Great song &mdash 01/14/06 - 02:39:11 AM
Love the song, mate. The overall sound is very cool; you've achieved
your own sound. I really enjoyed the arrangement. It stays interesting
all the way through. Great song. [ Reply to This ]
Leaves greatness and splits &mdash 01/19/06 - 03:57:48 PM
Anybody ever talk or email with this jonx character? He sure seems a little inaccessible to me. Only cryptic jokes if anything at all in the "Software" and "Hardware" sections ... an information-free profile that consitutes the bare minimum required to get an MJ account ... only the occasional acknowledgement of endless praise, deserved though it may be. It would be a lot easier to hate this guy if he would just cut it out with all of the ongoing genius and unparalleled talent. I'm convinced that his real name is not "Jon" or even "John" (or "Mack" or "Buddy") ... it's either Brian (Vander Ark) or Pete (Gabriel). Way too complete a package (from writing to voice to guitar to bass to drum to production) to be a regular government-issue schlomo like a lot of the rest of us. I am with TobinMueller and alley-oop regarding the treble-y vocals, but other than that, this is another great one - beyond compare. [ Reply to This ]

OK, That techno/funky in the middle break blew my mind, I was so sad to have it go. That was genius. Stuck right in the middle of this sad little folky song, this little jem of a break. Loved it. Very unexpected, and that is saying alot. [ Reply to This ]
