Simple, and calming Nice little melody, good use of instruments & fx, soothing harmonies. You manage to vary things a little as it goes on, keeping it from getting monotonous. When the big synth comes in about 1/3 in, it is a little jarring, you might want to ramp its volume up & back down a little, to keep with the "ambient" feel. Pleasant dreaming Very delicate beautiful moodscapes. Pleasant dreams. Perfect for freeing the mind of stress. Enough variation to keep you listening and lulled to rest. I grew up in Atlantic Canada with the sea outside my window and it put me to sleep at night. This piece very much has that same wonderful Ocean soothing sound. floatyness so far i feel like im floating. there are some things that help the monotoneness but i still think it gets a bit too monotone. i like the picking, but after a while it kind of gets irritating. there's a nice change about half way through. i'd like to see another one a little earlier as well. 2/3 way through there's some nice synth coming thru the left speaker but it's a little high volume wise. i like the idea of it. with some more variations this would be really amazing. big sound Nice, evocative of the ocean (nearly as good as opening my window to hear the Tasman Sea outside). You clearly have some skills in this area, and have produced a track that would not be out of place as a soundtrack. It would sound great cranked right up through a big sound system. Moments of true beauty… … are rare in life and on MacJams. There's a lot of ambient music out there but very little of it captures what you have captured here … a glorious musical experience smoothly and skillfully representing a real sensory experience. This has a hint of Eno at his most melodic, plus the merest hint of Enya. It fortunately never falls into the wishy-washy, background music trap, all too common with ambient musicians. It's neither too cerebral nor too bland, getting the balance right on nearly every level Good luck with the EP… if it's all this good then count me in for a copy! nice and relaxing. Quite a nice piece with a good ambient feel and decent production. Scream mentioned before that the guitar became a little irritating after a while before it broke down into sparser lyrical passages. One of the reasons I reckon this might be is that because you're using midi instruments and a delay/echo line the guitar lines have become to precise and metronomic. Not only do you have a heavily quantised guitar track, but you're emphisising that strict timing by having the delay/echo lines filling in all the quaver gaps. One solution might be to try and achieve the sense of depth some other way (reverb, or a long delay period), or to try and get (or imitate) a real guitarist, as they'd not be able to repeat anything exactly, or be 100% in time. Besides, one of my images of the sea is that although its always constant, its also constantly changing. Also with the synth that enters with the second playing of the melody, its just a little too percussive. It'd be real nice if there was just a slightly long attack time to the sound (or perhaps some reversed reverb)... as it'd be very easy to connect that sound to waves on a shore (which of course, you can hear comming before they crash). One last thing, theres a good 40 seconds of silence at the end of your track. Not sure whether you know its there or not (occasionally I find several minutes on the ends of my tracks for no reason). Not incredibly useful for an internet track (Almost another megabyte for poor old dial-up users to download), but may well have its uses for a CD. Anyway, quite enjoyed this. Nice work. It's interesting that you mention the guitar line. It's an arpeggiator and I guess that's why it may sound jarring. I'll have a faff and see what comes up. The full array First of all this is a fantastic piece of music, I play it again and again as I write this. I am speaking from experience. I basically make a living from creating boards to ride ocean waves. The experience consists of far more than the paddling standing and riding, it is the washed clean feeling when a wave washes over you (as your music implies). It is the rush of an in line flight of pelicans silently gliding by riding the updraft along the rim of a wave. Or just sitting on the beach at the end of a day watching the water fill the sky hissing out the sun. BUT! I think you have the greatest array of comments ever on this song, detailed and enlightning, lead by the genius Bizzarre, he freaking kills me! I was rolling!..
