Description:
The sun shines.
The ground tucks in under its covers.
All is well.
The birds are silent. Why is that?
Something replaces the sun in the sky.
Is it a frisbee? Is it an umbrella?
I won't know, I've gone blind. I hear mumbles. I can make out only a few words. Tadashi? 'Twood? Mr. Fied? Vortex?
I open my eyes again. The ground has no covers here, only water.
The water on is pink and/or purple-ish, I can't quite tell.
I hear chants. Violent chants. They seem to be getting closer.
Without knowing where, I run.
I see a ship. Not a sailboat, no, a starship. At least, it looks like a starship. I run to it and enter. The chanting is nowhere to be heard.
Rumbles and whirrs have taken their place.
The ship is moving.
I wake up on the grass. The sun hurts my eyes, but in a pleasant way.
Thank god, it was all a dream.
...or was it?

Fantastic journey. It moves across the spectrum of emotion and thought

Nice. &mdash 01/08/06 - 06:42:17 PM
Hey - Thanks for the continued story. I like the drums in the first part,
and then how they contine - you program your drums I assume? The
piano in here is great too. This still carries the classic Ein rock / synth
style well though. At the end the drums carry a nice driving / progressive
style I like.

like that disolve &mdash 01/08/06 - 07:44:40 PM
from the drums into the solemn sound, cool transition. Nice fuzz sound
1/4 of the way through, love that improvisational fuzz and tads
percussion. Very whimsical fuzzitry. Very audio appealing between 1/2
and 3/4 of the way through. Like that march sound towards the end,
really wow! Very emotional and to me very radio friendly. Very inspiring
there at the end. Love that part really do. Like that explosion at the end as
welll. Wow, that last 1/4 a like a whole lot! The whole thing is nice but I
am really smitten by the end! [ Reply to This ]
Epic! &mdash 01/08/06 - 09:38:33 PM
This feels big, Einarus. Galactical. Tadashi will be proud. Very nice

Too cool &mdash 01/08/06 - 09:57:05 PM
Wow, this is great. The drums are really nice throughout, but extra-cool in certain spots, and the melodies are fantastic and powerful as is usual in your work. I like the 5/4 groove at the end. It feels like there's several movements here, and each one has a distinct and beautiful character. Epic, like Tom said! [ Reply to This ]
Fabulous stuff &mdash 01/09/06 - 03:29:23 AM
Beautiful transitions into different moods and textures. Full of
gorgeous fleeting melodies. Really accomplished on every level ... I'm
very impressed! That's some talent you have there. [ Reply to This ]

Hey Ein, you heard most of my comments the other night, but I'll add a
few more and repeat a couple. First of all, love the work with the time
signatures... you've done well to make them flow so easily (they're not
awkward) which is very cool. Fantastic drum programming... good
snare work (rolls, ghost notes etc) and nice use of two high hats. You
have a nice sound bed going there... a clear distinction between the
background/foreground... a decent mix and for most of the song,
good chord progressions and melodies. I'm not a big fan of your
ending chord sequence... too happy and clique for me.... but you can't
win them all I guess.
Congrats Ein, nice work. [ Reply to This ]

You create one damn good soundspace! It is so haunting and yet so soothing! Another great track from you Einar! It grows throughout the song as it always does with your tunes! [ Reply to This ]

nice piano &mdash 01/09/06 - 02:57:43 PM
i like the piano intro. rather spacey, makes me think of alien for some reason. am i insane though because i don't hear the lyrics in the song. nice instrumental work. the title fits very well. i like the break near the end where it goes into what sounds like a picking pattern. carries the listener along with enough changes to keep you interested. at the moment i can't think of any advice. Wonderful trip &mdash 01/09/06 - 03:05:38 PM
Great tunes, superb driving percussion throughout, weird and alien in an
enjoyably bouncy way. Great stuff, as usual! Absolutely nothing to
critique, wonderful!

This takes you on a musical journey to the outer limits and back...very
nice indeed. I won't comment about the production/recording as that
would be boring...this is more of an experience!!
Well done!

soul to synths! &mdash 01/09/06 - 10:24:26 PM
Hey Einar,
This is very nice work - love how you've managed to combine the time
signatures and the melodic work. Some hints of Tadashi in the drum
programming (as expected I guess!). Really nice round sound on the
drums, as if they were being played in a big hall with a monster PA.
You have a way of giving soul to synths!
Well done,

this is one wonderous musical adventure. I particularly liked the
percussion in the first half followed by the quiter section...OK, I
liked the whole thing. Where can CJ go from here? This already
seems like a great finish to this epic series. [ Reply to This ]
Well, it's undoubtedly another… &mdash 01/10/06 - 04:34:58 PM
… piece of cool Einny prog. A whole great slab of the stuff! Lots of
moog too, which is always a bonus. Perhaps not quite your zenith,
Ein; I think that your last one was near perfect and this one maybe
just lacks a little something in the transition department, but
you're journeying to times and spaces new, with one foot in the
groovy prog past, and I'm liking it! [ Reply to This ]

Drummer says YOWSA &mdash 01/11/06 - 10:15:20 AM
I'm a newbie to the MJ scene, so I'm only just now being exposed to your ways, Einarus. It really is a great piece, a flight of fancy that evokes a mute version of early Genesis thematically and has the virtuosity of all the best prog-rockers. I like that there are time sig changes, but they flow very naturally. Production and everything else couldn't be better with a very deep soundscape defined. The capper for me though is that you told me that you did the drum tracks yourself from the ground up. You really do think like a drummer and an experienced one at that. This is a rare quality indeed and serves you very well. Rock on! [ Reply to This ]

Out of this world (and indeed galaxy)! &mdash 01/11/06 - 04:32:45 PM
Einar - this is fabulous. I'm particularly impressed with the work you've
done with the drum programming. The whole piece does have a strong
'70s feel (with hints of Camel) but I guess that's bang on as there's a bit of
a Sci Fi kitsch thing going on with Galaxy Band.
Inspired!

drummer). It kind of reminded me of King Crimson. ever listen to them?

This piece is full to the brim with good energy and vitality.
You have a real talent for choosing sounds and combining them in interesting ways.
I especially like your use of percussion and the solo bits. I don't hear enough of that on this site!
This was a great journey, and very nice listen.

How to say it... &mdash 01/13/06 - 03:10:03 PM
I know that I'm not supposed to say this out-loud But - Well.., Lets
see... I'll try to be accurate and somewhat diplomatic here - This
composition appealed to me more than most that I've heard here, and
that I can think of at this particular point in time... There, that felt safe
enough and it is likey the most truthful statement that I could muster
up... Not say'n that it would have been yesterday or at any other time...
It's just strikingly good
I'm just wanting to express clearl what it's' impact is on me at this
particular time - And I am simply amazed...
Very nice work and all the way around. Nice groove. Totally dign' the
drum/percussive work - Awesome keyboard/ synth playn' - Really nice
coloring - It's metered well - Great song structure - Impeccable
musicianship. -Vivid imaging - Aloof, but warm w/ textures (don't
know how you did that)
It's just a wonderful work of art, Einarus.

Celestial... &mdash 01/14/06 - 12:58:25 AM
This is a grand production. There is a lot of thought and heart put into
this song, and it shows in the melodious intricacy and grandiosity of the
sound. One of the best I've heard in this genre.
Can't critique much as I have no focus or expertise in this genre, but it
smells of musical genius, no doubt. [ Reply to This ]

Thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate it.
The drum programming is all me, yes. I've been quite the drum fan (especially in
unusual time signatures) ever since I heard Tool's Danny Carey. Boy, he's good.
Again, thanks for the comment!
