Groooovvvyyyy. Love the rhythm changes in this one, and also the dynamics. It kept getting more intense as the number progressed. The bass volume was a bit low, but from what I could tell, it sounded great. Piano and Marimba-- very nice!

Cool, way cool! &mdash 01/11/06 - 09:11:20 PM
This is a performance worthy of standing ovation at the end. So young
and yet so talented. High school? Man, I was not even into music that
much at that age. I think you are naturally gifted for this, Joel. Thanks
for sharing the gift for us to listen.

That title is totally un-like your performance though. It is hot and angry
whereas your music is cool as ice.

I like this and all your other stuff, very laid back. I don't listen to jazz
much so I don't have really anything constructive, but I do like it.

You've got a very talented bunch of Jazz Kids there my friend. Welcome to
MacJams, Looking forward to lots more from you. Reminds me of Keith
Jarrett. You all did a fabulous job. I Love the surprise rhythmic change.
Yeah Joel you're onto something here and it's all good.

This reminds me alot of my high school days &mdash 01/15/06 - 05:19:37 AM
This stuff is good, nice sound, nice grooves and nicely played. I
remember the hardest thing about playing this sort of music in high
school was finding the other people to play in the band... finding
people talented enough was half the fun... then finding people
interested in playing the same type of music was the rest. After that
the music was easy cause everything was just so much fun.

The only real difference I had in high school was that we tended to Jam
on more rock/funk type of tunes... breaking out into solos during the
middle of an Incubus song was our favourite.

One other thing that reminds me of me... is that your playing style so
far sounds similar in a couple of ways... very chordal based. I'd be
quite interested in hearing how you solo (there quite alot of room in a
song like this to do that... heck, there's room in ANY song)... also thats
a large part of what Higher Education Institutions would be looking for
if you decide to keep studying Jazz music after school.

Very cool piece, dig the Marimba too... keeping it nice and simple with
the two motives, but keeping things interesting. Very good.

Bryan
I realized the same similarities the moment I heard 17/8 Jam Draft. It's very
inspiring listening to your music because I understand what you are doing with
the chords, I can almost sense the next move in your solo. It's also very
refreshing to hear an educated professional speak of his former days
experimenting with music. Thanks for listening.

Wow! Slow down there. I'm currently being educated... I'm not getting paid
for it (I'm not a professional yet)... I'm still experimenting with music... and I
am only 4 years older than yourself. Chill :P

you wrote and performed (with your talented friends) a complex rhythmic
piece in a very smooth way, sounded dead-on and effortless, which is
what happens when you are really good and practice a lot :-) I'm totally
impressed, great stuff! Welcome to MacJams, you'll have a lot of fun here!

Very good performance.
The rhythm doesn't stagger.
The high school student is not felt.
It is very wonderful.

Nice Performance! &mdash 01/25/06 - 11:21:30 AM
Man, you guys did a great job with the tune. I like how natural it sounds,
which to me means you cats are good with your sense of feel, time, and
instruments. I also enjoyed the tune for the tune, like you are not really
copying anyone's chops or notes, but playing how you feel it. That's
great. I especially like the splashes of piano lines around the drum parts
and chords. Kick ass!

I really like this track, the live jazz feel really sets things off. Sounds real
professional too, that reccuring marimba meoldy is great the change in
the middle works brillantly. Quickly become a fan of your jazzy work.
