Description:
Quite honestly, I had no real concept for this project, just wanted to create some kind of music. So I started playing around and this is what I ended up with by the end of that evening.

Good stuff! &mdash 01/11/06 - 10:00:29 AM
Expertly done, just keeps on the right side of schmaltzy, there's a hint of
Moments in Love (Art of Noise) about it. Good orchestration, finely
balanced nice use of piano flourishes.

nice energy &mdash 01/11/06 - 10:38:50 AM
You have a talent for choosing sounds and combining them in interesting ways. The soundscape you have created here is rich and full, covering a wide range over my headphones.
I particularly like your use of piano. Those little diminished florishes up and down are effective. There are some other unexpected quirky little harmonies which titillate the ear, and create added interest to this track.
Welcome to MacJams! (You seem to be new). And also, thank you for listening and commenting to my latest piece. I appreciate that!
Will you add to your bio at some point? I'm sure that I can speak for all of us here, that we would like to know more about you and your music.
I look forward to your next piece! [ Reply to This ]

I really appreciate your detailed comment. Very generous, especially coming from an accomplished musician like yourself! I am looking forward to listening to more of your music! [ Reply to This ]
what a debut... &mdash 01/11/06 - 11:13:12 AM
Excellent. Beautiful orchestration and an amazingly crafted piece with
twists and turns in unexpected ways.
I aslo loved (what I think was!) the change in scale towards the last third.
An emotionally uplifting and stirring piece.
Thank you. [ Reply to This ]
what a debut... &mdash 01/11/06 - 12:36:34 PM
Thank you so much! I am especially happy that you even consider it "uplifting and stirring", since this is what I am hoping to accomplish, when creating anything! [ Reply to This ]
enjoyably soothing &mdash 01/11/06 - 04:22:17 PM
but enough anxiety to keep things interesting. I liked the unusual almost
Moorish feel to this, nice use of orchestration, little bits of synths and
piano and strings, a little tension, then some release, some discord, then
some thick resolving harmonies, compelling and satisfying. I would love
to see you edit your hardware/software list and description to tell us
more about how you wrote this. This wasn't GB loops, so how did you
score this? Did you use jampacks, soundfonts, etc... inquiring dragons
want to know! :) And welcome to Macjams!

Thanks for your comment! I am using Garageband, most of the Jam Packs and a small usb keyboard on a dual 1.25GHz G4. As far as the process is concerned, I usually start with a very vague idea of a mood or sound I want to express and then everything just flows, I guess. Not much thinking. I try to keep my conciousness open to good energy and try not to indulge in any binding emotions. When chords or melody get too dense, I usually take the freedom to break the flow and introduce a new idea, like I did with this one.
Thanks again for your interest! [ Reply to This ]
Sets a mood beautifully &mdash 01/11/06 - 06:56:23 PM
Lots of very sophisticated touches, you definitely know what you're doing.
I was a little worried at first that it was heading towards a Frank Mills style
of schmaltz, but you managed to avoid that, to your credit. My wife likes
it too! I agree with other comments about the piano flourishes; they add
a lot. Good job, and welcome! Look forward to hearing more. [ Reply to This ]
Sets a mood beautifully &mdash 01/12/06 - 07:25:56 AM
Thank you for this comment! I am really grateful that a composer of your caliber would take his time and listen to music which is so much simpler or different by comparison to your arrangements and still be able to appreciate it! I guess constructive feedback like this, which inspires one to improve is the main reason I joined this platform, so thank you again! I am looking forward to browsing your website and listening to more of your compositions! [ Reply to This ]

That's really nice of you! I had actually visited your page the other and started listening to some of your music. Like it a lot (will comment later)!! Too bad Álftanes seems quite far from Reykjavik, one of my friends just opened a great music store there. Thanks again for your comment! [ Reply to This ]

Nice arrangement - very emotive. Interesting use of the different GB
sounds. That was one productive evening. [ Reply to This ]

Love your sound. A wave of lovely rhythms with effortless rifts floating
throughout the piece. Beautifully mixed and layered. Every time I need to
calm down I%u2019m going to put "Sunshine Lounge" on and breath deeply. [ Reply to This ]

I finally can hear your music at work! So glad I found this sight. I love your sounds especially string synths!!
Ever use analog? I had an ARP 2600 and a VCS3. Digital is SOOOOOOO much simpler!!
