Enjoyed indeed! &mdash 01/12/06 - 08:47:50 PM
A touch of William Orbit and the new age stuff I would thrive on as I locked myself in my room as a teenager. Look forward to hearing more:)

Thanks for comparing me to Mr. Orbit...and in case you spent your time in your locked room creating music like you are doing now, I guess that would have been time well spent! I was quite impressed with the quality of your work, do you really play, write and sing all yourself?

Very enjoyable &mdash 01/13/06 - 08:46:38 AM
Your description is spot on. A fresh breeze is exactly the feeling I got
from the song.
It really reminded me of the soundtrack for Sim City 4, or something like
that. (And I mean that as a compliment).

Very light, very bright, very playful but relaxed.
Nice work!

Thanks for your comment! I guess I have to listen to the Sim City soundtrack now. Talking about games - I listened to your "Gorglepoof" (is that icelandic?) - wouldn't that be a perfect soundtrack for any space shooting game?! Great stuff!!

Thanks for your interest! This little project I started with the vibraphone track and then added the other instruments one by one, with the Revolving Lines Guitar being the last (ended up with 12 different instrument layers). The harmonies are really quite simple, so my main goal was to create a fresh, organic sound with Garageband, using adjusted instruments from JamPack 3 and 4. I work with a small midi keyboard and Garageband 2 on a Dual 1.25GHz G4 computer.

excellent choice of sounds & layering &mdash 01/18/06 - 09:07:48 AM
Very nice use of percussion and marimba in the beginning section.

The very low bass sound (when the piano comes in) is nice, but almost *too* low for optimum listening and definition.

The piece builds up well as you add layers. Each sound choice is good; they blend well with one another. You have a real talent for building sound-layers, over a catchy beat.

The mood created here is excellent for driving -- or going out on a safari (LOL!) It's sort of background, almost ambient music -- your assigned genre of "acoustic rock" doesn't quite fit.

Effective ending with just the percussion. However, that very last note needs to be allowed to die out completely, it was ever-so-slightly chopped off.

This was a very enjoyable listen which I which lasted longer; this piece could be increased by another 30 seconds to a minute and be more memorable and "substantial".

Nice work, though.

Thank you so much for taking the time to analyze this piece. That's what I call a thorough review. Great! I can basically agree with all the things you point out. I also appreciate your advice about the genre – I will change it to Ambient as you suggest. Thanks again, Cameron!

A really nice tune! &mdash 01/22/06 - 10:18:45 AM
Yes. A really nice tune! Downloaded!

Would be interesting to know a bit more of how you go about working.
Are ju penciling, keyboarding or using ready made loops or what?

Guess people that are more into this can hear the difference, but I
certainly can't ... just that the result is super nice!

A really nice tune! &mdash 01/23/06 - 06:47:22 AM
Thank you, Cori! I generally don't use loops ("Solace" is an exception, I guess). I play in all of the instruments with a usb keyboard starting either with percussive instruments or a soundbed, and then I see where the idea takes me! Quite a simple process, really. The tricky part is usally mixing and "calibrating" the instruments, to make them blend and sound real...a problem you will never have!

Now I am hypnotized...The rhythms in this number are awesome and so well recorded. One can't help but be taken into your world. I only wish it had been just about 15 or 20 secs. longer...maybe with more of a gradual fade out. But I enjoyed it nevertheless. Nicely mixed, too. It's just wonderful to hear your inventive music and style.

Thank you so much... &mdash 11/14/06 - 12:56:14 PM
for this kind comment!! It's really encouraging when an excellent musician like yourself seems to like a piece of music. And with all this encouragement, I'll try to go back into this track and fix up a few things, including making it a little bit longer.
