Lyrics:
leaning against the salty west wind
it isn't as cold as the clouds ahead
fetch a falling drop of a retreating wave
returning home could've been an empty wait instead

one more breath of this unfamiliar place
that has unfortunately gotten so familiar
a pleasant memory of unimportance
latched this quiet time of a faded affair
and maybe for the last day
you should do nothing at all

The taste of the air has a barely noticeable savor
bland enough to be nearly ordinary as a quiescent draw
Take a time to write a simple plan for the next day
‘cause returning home could've been an empty wait instead

one more breath of this unfamiliar place
that has unfortunately gotten so familiar
a pleasant memory of unimportance
latched this quiet time of a faded affair
and maybe for the last day, you should do nothing
at all… you are, instead of trying, waiting

Arguing with yourself &mdash 01/17/06 - 07:55:13 AM
I really like your style, your strong rhythmic acoustic guitar, your
mainstream drive and dramatic pacing, and the general lines of the
song. The lyrics are uniquely bland and generalized, with obvious
specific details that reside more in the head of the subject than in the
actual text, and that goes with the concept well, but is a little
frustrating to me as a listener (unless this was intended as a film score
song, in which case its rather perfect). Very interesting use of an
almost counterpoint vocal line, becuz it almost gets in the way,
creating this annoying confusion, like an argument inside your own
head, which I truly like as a concept. It also creates a great contrast to
when you sing alone, setting up the indecision of the ending, which is
superb. I like when you go high into your falsetto, by the way, don't
shy away from that, use it; its cool. Really nice thought thru track.
