A very cosmic ride.

I loved the weirdness of the beginning. Vera did an excellent job, there :)
Nice melodies and cool chord progression in the end.
Everything sounds so normal and melodic, yet with a freaky undertone.

Good job.

Now - who's doing part 7? :)

Thanks Ein. :) And Vera says thanks too! The end came entirely by accident.
Started manipulating the notes not thinking and thought "oo!"

Hehe since I crashed the ship this time we're having a real pilot take us on the
next adventure... a lot safer. ;)

Take out the trash? &mdash 01/18/06 - 10:30:31 AM
Vera Violence steps out of her crash-landed spacepod to survey the
damage. The surface of this planet seems to be crawling with
slithering plaid sandworms, making bagpipe-like calls to eachother
across the mountains of ship wreckage that have slowly collected on
this planet. She shudders, and realizes she must quietly make repairs
and escape before the worms notice this new morsel and make their
way toward her crippled craft. When one of her tesseract-spanners
destabilizes and crashes to the floor, the pipe-calls go out, and the
incessant drumming approaches her ship. Furiously hooking up a
makeshift fuel line, she's able to take off and leave them far behind.
As the piece comes to a close, she is relaxing and smiling at her close
call, when she begins to hear bagpipes again, coming from the cargo
bay of her ship...
ttfn,
Drakonis

Wow drak ... thanks for the tale! Bagpipe creatures... hahahaha that requires a
good cartoon!

Well &mdash 01/18/06 - 11:52:48 AM
Drakonis already said exactly what I was thinking. This is really nice; I like Vera's whalesongs at the beginning, and the great danceable bagpipe style groovings, or is that violin? Great stuff cj!

cool &mdash 01/18/06 - 02:18:21 PM
love how out there this is and the production is perfect for
it....and when it picks up in the middle that melody is just
brilliant. Great fusion of sounds and influences....really
great....you should submit this for film work

the bagpipers of the celtic past in a time warp. Oddly beautiful,
mesmerizing music. Well done, cj!!

Must learn not to read ahead! &mdash 01/18/06 - 03:10:59 PM
Drak spoiled the story by telling the end! Great piece CJ - reading his
description as it went was an interesting experience. Must learn not to
read ahead though : )
The beginning really set the stage for me. then the percussion moved
in and things started to get a little weirder until the celtic sound of the
pipes/violin brought it back to some sort of normality (although Vera
in the background kept the weird factor high). Very nice ending.
Like this!

thrillin' with Vera &mdash 01/18/06 - 03:45:31 PM
Vera's got a streak of Bernard Herrman in her - this is a really nice mix of organic and analog textures - I love the trading of melody lines taking place at the end and the overall pacing of this piece is really exciting. Celts in space! Great job, CJ!

Really great soundscape.. I love the Celtic space feel. Makes me want to
dance...which is never a good thing for anyone in my immediate vicinity!
Nice one CJ!

Spaced Out Vera &mdash 01/18/06 - 05:40:35 PM
Oh wow, I think this is one of your best production-wise. I like how everything comes together, creating a sci-fi-ish celtic feel. I like it. The picking of the...bass something....it is very mysterious. I like your use of strings in this one & vera sounds very well recorded.

& thanks for a story Drak :).

sweet mother of invention &mdash 01/18/06 - 08:16:04 PM
sweet sliding and stretching of the catgut. hopefully, no kittens or birds were harmed in the execution of this extra fine piece, i imagine myself flying across many borders in a streamlined titanium thrust balloon. future celtic music. this is unbelievably advanced. all 10s.

Warp factor 10! &mdash 01/19/06 - 10:07:47 AM
Skye Fi? UFO (Unidentified Fiddle Object)? Gaelic-sy Band? Whatever, this
is a powerful track - the uillean pipe effect works particularly well. I know
a fiddle that would like to meet Vera!
