Description:
Your criticism, please!

I composed "Gethsemane" as a song to be played during communion or the offering. And although people have said they liked it, I've also heard from a few that it's just too short. (Well, what can I say -- I go to a small church.)

So, my plan is to use this song as the "A" part of an A-B-A structured song.

Goood idea? Leave well enough alone? Let me know what you think.

In any case, this song will soon be compiled into a home-produced instrumental album, "Wordlessly," I'm composing for use during the rehearsal dinner for my brother's wedding in June.

The photo was taken on Blennerhassett Island, on the Ohio River near Parkersburg, W.Va.

Nice meditative tune &mdash 01/21/06 - 07:58:03 PM
Jon, I think this would be appropriate for either communion or the
offering. Since you have a small church, neither will take very long so the
length of this piece sounds about right.

Nicely composed and played.

God bless,

Rick

This could go either way &mdash 01/23/06 - 09:40:35 AM
Or you could have it both ways. Continue to use it as it is now for offering
(I know i'm not supposed to have more than two minutes of music for
that, or it seems too long in our church.) Otherwise, it would sound good
as part of an ABA piece, but I'd truncate this section in that case. Then a B
section with a more rhythmic accompaniment, then back to A in a relative
key and then possibly a coda. Either way, you have solid material to build
on. My personal opinion is that it's a little repetitive as it stands now, but
for your use as offertory, it provides several exit points that are great for
that kind of playing situation.

Solid New Age track &mdash 01/26/06 - 06:21:08 AM
Very nice. Evenly played, solid form, very pleasing. I'd put it under New
Age, since it is solidly in that genre, in my ears. Fine new age track.

Comune &mdash 01/26/06 - 06:50:59 AM
With this tune in ones head or heart, one could be just walking down this
dusty road and be in a spititual communion.
