great performance &mdash 01/26/06 - 11:16:09 PM
Adam, this is a great performance, seriously. Even though the lyrics are
basically gibberish you deliver them with great rock and roll power. A
demonstration of just how great a singer you are, especially when you
really let loose and follow your gut. Throw this kind of energy and
freedom into something with real lyrics and you'll have a seriously prime
time rock tune. I also really like the aggressiveness you took with the
guitar. [ Reply to This ]
great performance &mdash 01/27/06 - 04:01:59 AM
Thanks PG- I almost ended the song with "I've got blisters on me fingers" but
thought that might be copywrite infringement :)
Glad you were digging this! As always, I appreciate your comments and advice!

you've enter the land of songwriting................this is why I love the in the
moment/improv. song writing technique....you get moments like
this.........you are completely present from voice to your guitar
licks,.......you can't reproduce this, i've tried this in my own work....its
almost like a one shot deal.........was a great listen..................t [ Reply to This ]

true words regarding the one take wonder. The quick story is that this is
basically the last two minutes of last night's recording session- I was playing
completely for fun and for the benefit of my daughter (also my one person
audience). In fact, I almost deleted the whole but I had recorded because of a
horrible take on the song I was trying to do.
Thanks for the appreciation, T-bone!

Especially your own daughter. That's a sentiment I can get behind 100%; watching people dance to my drumbeats is exactly what keeps me playing drums. Did I mention how cool this track is?! Now that people are sayin' it, I can hear the John Mellencamp thing too. Awesome!

This is nifty - from the bits of lyrics popping in, this song could go in any one of number of directions - but I like them all - hope you can incorporate all of those elements! Great voice and strumming - can't wait to hear what this becomes! [ Reply to This ]

Maybe some day I'll read do this with lyrics... I'm hearing this as the story of a
man who's spent some time in jail.... a moonshiner by blood and choice.
Maybe....
Thanks for the listen, Bing!

Loud Acoustic &mdash 01/28/06 - 10:02:22 AM
This is too cool. Reminds me of an old Everly Brothers tune back in the
day when rock was acoustic. Lot's of attitude, Nice tune. Like the fact it's
done live. You can feel the energy. Sometimes all this mixing and
mastering and trying to perfect the song in general sucks all the life out
of it. Not on this one though. It Rocks! [ Reply to This ]
Loud Acoustic &mdash 01/30/06 - 04:28:33 AM
Man- I'm glad you were digging this. It was a total blast to do. Very cool that
you mention the Everly Brothers- it was some of the first rock and roll I listened
to when I was a kid-- my folks had a very eclectic record collection and this was
tucked away in there along with Dylan, The Band, Stones, Sly and Family Stone,
Miles Davis, Isaac Hayes, Bobby Vinton, Ray Price and The New Christy Minstrels.

Adam, you have a very nice voice and I have decided you have a John
Mellencamp sound going on there. I guess you had that figured out
already. Enjoyed the live feel, maybe have a audience cheering in the
back ground, put a little arena reverb to it and you would have every one
fooled. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, John. The Mellencamp thing is hard to hide sometimes. The reality is I
taught myself to play guitar to his songs. And since he's my favorite artist of all-
time I'm flattered by the comparison.

thoughts from the bull... &mdash 01/29/06 - 05:11:48 PM
i would love to hear this while sitting amongst a fairly well-lubed bar
crowd, because you'd for certain have the place clearing tables for
clamor'd dancing.
a terrific performance and it's obvious that it was just pure fun to
make. well done and it's just awesome to hear that low-tech rock n'
roll has not been undermined or outdone.

If nothing else I do have a great memory of playing and singing this in front of
an (one person) audience.... who was inspired enough to dance.
I was taking with a friend of mine who owns a bar nearby in Dover, NH- seems
he runs an open mic so maybe I'll get off my butt one of these days and play to a
real crowd.

Cool stuff &mdash 01/30/06 - 08:40:55 AM
Just wanted to return the favor by commenting on some of your stuff, but usually I check out everyone's work and leave comments.
That said, this is a great tune. It reminded me a lot of Bob Dylan, and also Pete Townsend like someone else had mentioned. I think Dylan because of your singing. But it really is a terrific song. Great work! I look forward to your new stuff and will also check out your old stuff as well. Keep up the great work! [ Reply to This ]
Cool stuff &mdash 02/01/06 - 06:20:54 PM
Hey- thanks for the listen... cool comparisions too. I think this is the first time
I've ever been compared to Townsend- that's pretty neat. I have another
unreleased sketch that is much more Dylanesque but I think I'll finish that before
I post. Cheers! Adam

Attitude, and Some &mdash 01/30/06 - 10:00:54 PM
Best and most confident Vocal present I can recall hailing from those
Northern Parts, Brother.
You're a Stone Natural Rocker. A little reminiscent of Mellencamp, but
that's His Problem, not yours.
While I wish the Mix had more Vocal detail on your really solid Voice, I
Am dying over the Acoustic. Very Cool.
Fine Addition to your List.
Best to You,

The energy in this song is contageous, had me tapping my feet and
would certainly have danced around a bit if my roomate wasn't in the
room with me. :) I think that's one of the greatest powers of music. I
absolutely agree with Boris the Bull - this soulful song needs to be

A triple shot of aclarke with just a splash of Mellencamp. Yeah baby, this is going down nicely.

Without question my music is Mellencamp infuenced! Always glad when
someone picks that up.
As a matter of fact, I was standing up... I have a very cheap and creaky guitar
strap- sounds just like a chair, doesn't it? Thanks for the listen- I always
appreciate feedback!

Im waiting &mdash 04/21/06 - 05:57:48 PM
I keep coming back to your profile waiting to hear this with lyrics.(Though
I like his music, this site already has a philos60) The vocal has a John
Melencampish quality, The lyrics that I am imagining are also in that vain.
What is already here is very interesting and worth more work. Work and
inspiration don't necessarily need to be mutually exclusive to my way of
thinking. Regards [ Reply to This ]
Im waiting &mdash 05/04/06 - 06:43:27 PM
I'm working on it! This is a pretty basic example of how most of my music gets
written- in fact, this is totally spontaneous and was recorded as I was making it
all up. I can usually get bits and pieces of lyrics from the gibberish I spew- this
one I'm seeing as a sort of Moonshiner's Lament.
I posted it the way it is because I really liked the energy I captured and the total
rawness of the song. My biggest fear is not being able to replicate that.
Thanks for checking back! It helps keep me focused!

It was a lot of fun! I recorded this just after we had recorded Katie's "Striped Sweater". I always wondered if posting such a raw, unpolished song was the right thing to do. Thanks for helping to validate that!
