Description:
This song started originally as a song by JMogielnicki called Procrastinations Consequence. I was invited to add vocals to it. I thought it sounded a bit unfinished, so I asked AClarke to add backing vocals. Due to my inability to mix properly (I know STILL too much reverb .. although I did cut back a lot) ..... it started to sound a little crowded .... so I cut and pasted bits here and there (as a consequence ... I'm sorry Adam ... I cut some of the backing vox) .... I will repeat for good measure ... I am a SINGER ... not a STUDIO ENGINEER ... if anyone is interesting in giving this tune a proper MIXING ... I can supply all the original vocal files and the music track. I look forward to comments on the song .... if you have mixing comments ... I hope you are prepared to MIX it ... HAHAHAHA because I don't understand HOW to do it ! So please consider this a project in the "works" .....

Lyrics:

I’m just sitting here
Waiting for my ship to come in
I buy lottery tickets
But it’s not mine to win
With unwashed hair
And clothes that are permanent press
Oh where is my prince
Sitting all alone
With a remote control between his knees
Waiting … perhaps for me
Ooh ooh and we dream
Ooh and we dream our sweet fantasies

Each night I dream about you
As I lay in my bed
The thoughts, the plans, the fantasy
The man inside my head

I dream about my life with you
How perfect it would be
If only you existed
If you could come to me

But you are just a ghost
Not alive nor dead
You are just a fantasy
The man inside my head

Heath Ledger or Jake Gyllenhaal? &mdash 01/27/06 - 01:04:04 AM
I am not a sound engineer either so no comments regarding that issue
from me.........I will say that I am a fan of mr. JMogielnicki and hearing a
piece of his is always a pleasure. Your vocals/lyric are great on this..... I
appreciate the honesty in the lyric....Iam attracted to words that I can
almost hear coming from my own mouth.....these did that for me......nice
work here.....................t

ps. I'll take heath you get jake

Thank you T-Bone for your comments. And though I admit the production end of things does need some work, I welcome comments on "my" contribution to the song .. which is the lyrics, melody and overall singing. And I'm gonna have to arm wrestle you for Heath ... cause he is definitely hotter than Jake.

Beautiful song &mdash 01/27/06 - 08:58:16 AM
Nice melody. It has a definite suspended feel about it.

Dreams are perfect.

I enjoy the guitar accents as well.

Great mood. I'll mix it if i could put my personal mark in it (synths and
vocals)

You would have to ask JMogielnicki if you intend to make any changes, i.e. to the musical part anyway.

That would be fine with me. I think the music should be open for anyone to
experiment with. I'm excited to hear what you've got in mind!

Needs more reverb! &mdash 01/27/06 - 06:23:36 PM
Heheh- just kidding! I give you a ton of credit for giving the mix a fair
shot. Let's face it, we'll never improve on anything if we don't try. This still
needs some work but you are definitely on the right track. Plus I know it
was made more difficult given the software issues you were having.

As always, your tremendous voice and distinct style really make the best
out of JMogielnicki's wonderful instrumental piece. Thanks for thinking of
me for the backing vocals!

Excellent tune! &mdash 01/27/06 - 11:19:24 PM
Alannah, your vocals are very well suited for this one, this range seems
very comfortable for you. There's a very mystical feel here (from the
guitar line with the high bend to the vocal flutters). In your next go-
round, you should consider trimming that initial 2 seconds of silence at
the very beginning where you can hear the guitar/microphone hum
(IMHO). Great use of what I presume are looped drums, they really fit
the jam. Guitars are a touch hot in the mix for my tastes, but then
again I'm pretty deaf from my drumming career, so what do I know.
Thanks for posting this one!

midevil folk &mdash 01/27/06 - 11:31:03 PM
i get a bit of a midevil feel that fits with the prince concept. has a bit of an enchanting feel, but something else to it i can't place, with a bit of a folky sound. the lyrics are pretty good. the vocals have a rather unique sound to them. as for what could be changed i'm not entirely sure.

...I'll say you showed remarkable restraint. :)

You've added some really great vocals. And the lyrics are great. The
production even sounds fine to me. It's got a pretty good balance and
features your vocals prominantly.

gorgeous song buried &mdash 01/30/06 - 12:31:16 AM
This is a gorgeaous song. I love that guitar riff and the melodies.
Excellent performances from all of you involved. It has a lot of emotional
power. I'm taken by it. The builds and breakdowns work very well. The
lyrics are poetic and flow well with the music. That said, I think all the
heavy reverb and echo is burying it. Alannah, I know you likes the reverb
abd echo, and oftentimes I think you use it well, but in this case I think
you are washing out the whole thing with the amount you are using. It all
becomes acoustically chaotic to a degree. Not terrible at all; but
diminished from what I think it should be otherwise. You have a great
voice and should have confidence in it. Effects aside, I think this is a
damn good song, performed beautifully.

Thanks for the feedback Peter .. I am working on my reverb addiction .. these things take time .... cold turkey is too hard for me .. but I did cut back on it somewhat for this song .. heh heh ..... now maybe if they just came up with a reverb patch or gum or something ......

Very delish &mdash 02/01/06 - 05:52:46 PM
As always, a very sweet voice, Alannah - you've got so much emotion dripping out of those pipes, girl! I love the music in this - the guitars play off of each other with tasty colors and the insistent rhythm is a delight to behold. I have no comments on the mix, because I've no time for mixing. Hahahh! I'm still trying to get you our collab! I will say this - simply put half as much reverb on when you mix - your voice in the ear is really something to behold (I speak from experience....)

You've already talked about your production problems so my only purpose in writing is to say again how much I love the quality of your voice and the range in which you sing.

I found the original song (Procrastination's Consequence) via an old thread in the colaboration forum and really liked it - was anxious to hear the re-vamped version. Your vocals are terrific, it sounds wonderul.
