Description:
A song I wrote for a friend of mine who was complaining that she never seems to inspire me. It kind of describes her, and our friendship, but the description is a bit shallow, because there is more to us than what I say.

Just a side note to this song:

Usually when a writer, or lyricist writes something they completely understand or at least understand to a point about the subject they are writing about or the story they have contrived. When I wrote this, I understood the words up until the very end of the song what it was about. The last four lines are still very cryptic in meaning to me, but they are there for a reason.
Hey, at least my friend liked it a lot!
Hope you enjoy it, and please, any comments or ratings are greatly appreciated.

Lyrics:
We don't talk about tomorrow,
we just sit around and talk about the things we did today.
We don't worry about the future,
the past is enough and the present gets in the way.

Life is a series of complications.
One by one they come and rattle us, they rattle us in our cage.
Chained together by reservations,
speak your mind, let's all hear what you have to say.

You never take things too serious.
Words bounce off like a glancing blow from a boxer in your face.
When it's time to run for cover,
you stand your ground and put the challengers in their place.

We don't want your sympathy,
what we do is what we need.
How we live is not what they see,
come set us free.

First- let me say how much I enjoyed this song. The percussion is not
what I expected to here in a mainstream pop song and that enhanced the
tune for me. The only nitpick I have is how it sounds like you pulled away
form the microphone in several spots- like during the last line "come set
us free".

Terrific vocal on this and overall I think this song has a very interesting
and cool vibe!

Thanks for the comments! I think I pulled away from the mic on purpose at the end so as not to sound like I was screaming into it, but I hear what you are saying about it sounding far away.

Thanks for taking the time out to check it out though.

Charming to the last...

I liked it the song &mdash 01/31/06 - 12:30:32 PM
but I didn't like the ending as it felt like it kind of ran away from me. The
fourth verse sounded to me like it should have been a chorus, maybe
repeated between the other verses?? And/or perhaps repeated at the end
and then fade to black?? Maybe even some fat synthy sound behind the
chorus too. I hope I'm not being too presumptuous but I liked the song
and these were thoughts that occurred to me.
