Description:
This is a collaboration with stevel based on his song of the same name. I really liked what he had done. His lyric reminded me of something Richard Thomson would write. So, I "Thomsonized" it, made it more upbeat, and added another verse. Then stevel added a really nice guitar solo.
I have hardly ever collaborated with anyone before. But I'm finding that MacJams and the people who are part of it are very inspiring to me. Hope you enjoy the tune as much as we had fun doing it!

Lyrics:
You went looking for Truth and Glory.
I went drinking. It's the same old story.
You were dancing in the All Bar One.
Heads were turning trying to name the song.
Chorus:
We've been reading the same old story.
We've been reading the same old story.
We've been reading the same old story,
and it never ends.
I've been so lonely I forgot to feel.
And a hungry man does not refuse a meal.
All the favours went to Number One.
Now the party's over and the guests have gone.
(Chorus)
No, it never ends.
It never ends,
but it's got to end this time.
(break)
You went to Blackwells and you bought the book.
Me? I'll rent the video and take a look.
You're talking metaphor and allegory.
I'm talking brickbats. It's the same old story.
Final Chorus:
We've been writing the same old story.
We've been writing the same old story.
We've been writing the same old story,
And it never ends.

Good Rock and Roll.
Good Build in Vocal present of the Lyric. Crisp with good momentum.
Guitars are OUTTA Here. Crisp and Quick.
The Mx sounds a little thin on this machine (and Ref Phones - very Flat
across the Spectrum), but I'll pull it into Tunes for a Look.
Really Nice Job.
Best,
rtc

Thanks. Let me know if the vocals improved any on larger speakers...I liked
stevel's guitar solo ALOT. [ Reply to This ]

Oh, Yeah
And totally Clean. I can't even think that fast, nevermind moving figers at that
speed. Great Chops with Big Feel and Touch.
However, let's not overlook the Vocal present with its Precision, Dynamic, and
perfect ATTITUDE.
Respectfully,

Upbeat and refreshing! &mdash 01/28/06 - 03:46:53 PM
Very enjoyable song! Catchy refrain, well mixed. I only heard this version and it sounds like all instruments were recorded "live" (is that right?) and have this fresh and warm sound, which you just don't quite get with software instruments. The quality of the recording seems spotlessly clean and the background voices fit in perfectly. I was actually hoping the song would go on a little longer and end with another guitar solo or so. Great job, though, really like it! [ Reply to This ]

Thanks for the kind words. The guitars (3) and vocals are real. Everything else is
software or MIDI. The drums are loops, but they've been heavily edited, so
they'd sound less "standard". I spent some time EQing everything. Not perfect,
but nothing ever is. [ Reply to This ]
I like your vocal sounds &mdash 01/30/06 - 07:02:24 PM
The vocals and the guitars are really well done. On my headphones, the
drums are kind of out front and trebly sounding. I like the lyrics. Good
colab, guys. [ Reply to This ]
