Keywords:
round (13)silly (34)jester (1)juggler (1)bad recording :P (1)
Description:
I recorded this about a year ago--just after I bought my condenser mic.
This was sort of a test track, but I thought I'd post it here for fun, in case any of you out there would like to learn (or teach!) an old English round.

Eight separate vocal tracks were recorded, then staggered at intervals to create the round you hear.
This is one of several that I learned from a book of old English rounds.

The recording leaves something to be desired, as in some cases my voice was too loud and caused clipping, so apologies beforehand for that!

Lyrics:
Jinkin the Jester was wont to make glee
With Jarvis the Juggler 'til angry was he,
Then Wilfred the Wiseman did wisely forsee
How Juggler and Jester should gently agree.

Hey-down-down-down-down
Derry-down-down-derry-down-down.

Hardware:
iBook 1.25 GHz
Behringer B-1 Condenser Mic
MAudio Mobile Pre USB

Software:
GarageBand 1

So much fun &mdash 01/28/06 - 04:43:56 PM
Cat, this is just wonderful. I can't find the right words to do it justice.
The mix sounds fine to me and your voice is like sparkling crystal--so
clear and pure. Absolutely delightful!

I gave you 10's across the board for this. I know the score will probably
get whittled down, but you deserve the top professional score on this.

Someday I'm going to learn how to do the multiple voice part you laid
down at the beginning of this piece, before the round began.

God bless you,

Rick

So much fun &mdash 01/30/06 - 01:25:08 PM
Thanks, Rick!
Glad you liked this. It was a great way to test out the new mic (a year ago!)
I might do some more rounds in the future. Maybe this time I'll play around with the vocal transformer!

Thanks again for the comments!

Just noticed that there is no voting booth. Oh well, you're 10's in my book
anyway.

God bless,

Rick

Those &mdash 01/28/06 - 06:03:54 PM
angry jugglers! Sounds good in unison but it really works as a round. Cool!

Sounds fine to me Cat - lyrics seem strangely appropriate in these
times too. Have always loved a good round (make mine HSB - sorry,
an English reference!). Like it! Neil

This sounds better than my test tracks &mdash 01/29/06 - 05:30:10 AM
or real tracks for that matter. :)
A voice like a bell.

BTW, I would vote "caramel taffy-rose petals-shiny buttons in water-spring
morning" for this one.

Wow, Mungo!
I like your votes much better than the numbers!

Thanks! ;)
From now on, I'll look forward to your superior voting! :D

Nice to know &mdash 01/29/06 - 06:56:53 AM
That you really aren't superhuman and totally perfect all the time. This
time you were only mostly perfect. Great song to hear on a Sunday
morning... put a smile on my face!

I'm thinkn'... &mdash 02/01/06 - 06:30:36 AM
... That you have a mighty fine mic. I'm playing catch up and I'm
listening to your tune immediately after EE and PV's joint effort...
Strikingly different music, but of the same high calibur as yours, Mysty.
I am reminded why it is that I love this place and why I feel myself
getting some serious 'shakes' when I simply can't be here.

Thanks for this wonderful reminder. Dion

P.S. I especially love it when you're singing on your pieces.
PPS - I am fascinated by jesters and I love my collection of jester head
gear. : ) Yea, it's true and I have no idea why this has happened to me...
