Nice spirit. Very cleverly sequenced. My only complaint is that it's too
short. You do a wonderful job multi-tracking the vocals. What kind of Mic
do you use?

Thank you. :-) The mic is a Telex M-540. I got it before getting into
CarageBand, si it's probably crummy. it doesn't pick up further than a foot,
probably. Thanks for listening. :-)

ooooh, pretty! &mdash 01/30/06 - 03:04:55 PM
OK, honest critique... I didn't care too much for the loops, but knew
they were there to provide a bed for you to sing over... overall you did
OK with putting them together to make a nice background. But wow,
when your first "la la..." chorused singing came in, I wanted that to last
forever... that was very pretty, quite nicely sung. And again, too bad
your pinhole mic doesn't pick up your good singing voice... wow. This
is one of those "oh dang its over!" type pieces. I bet you could get
some other MJ'ers to jump in and write non-looped backing stuff for
you... or get out your guitar (oops, should I have not told people you
can play? evil grin) Somebody buy this lady a Snowball! :) Anyway,
very pretty singing!

Drakonis

Well, thank you very much! I do need to learn how to change loops and I have
no idea what a snowball is, but I'm guessing it's a decent mic. Probably costs
a fortune, right? Anyway, I'm glad you liked my singing. I'll be singing more,
although I'll still be using the pinhead, er, pinhole mic for now. <G>

Vibrant talent... &mdash 01/30/06 - 06:26:06 PM
on display in your sense of a song and your joyfully alive singing.
I say "your sense of a song" because that is something that just
isn't easily learned. You seem to have it.... and I am enjoying
listening.

Wonderful Roxylee. This was a joy to listen to. Don't be concerned about
composing with loops. That's what they are there for. Hey--you created
beautiful music--and that's what it's all about.

God bless,

Rick

clever.. &mdash 02/01/06 - 06:08:41 AM
..use of loops, I've heard them all before but you combine them nicely
and of course your singing makes it all work. I would have liked to hear
a further developed lyric. However, the simplicity of your words is
compelling. Bravo

After hearing your songwriting genius, I am honored. Thank you! :-)
I thought about making it longer, but I thought doing that might lessen the
impact of the sudden harmony. Anyway, it was my first song and I'm thrilled
that musicians in here liked it.Thank you! :-)

you have a beautiful voice, and I believe your passion will elevate your
Gb skills. you certainly have a message and i think thats inspirational
to others as well. i'm glad i listened to more than "a matter of choice",
that track I felt oversimplified a complex deeply personal subject
(confessions from a hospice volunteer of 12 years)...i've seen too much
to believe otherwise. yet i feel blessed in this song subject and
"apology" was right on the money. looking forward to more songs!

Thank you very much. :-) Yeah, the Matter of Choice was not my usual typs
composition. One day I was just thinking about how the world is getting
darker and darker and how sanctity of life is getting less and less valid, and
that skit just emerged. I'm glad you listened to the worship songs, too. Thank
you for your kind comments. :-)

I must say your a natural at editing tracks and your music is always so
well done. Sometimes i know what i want to hear but making it sound like
that is sometimes difficult. Nice!

Vocal Beauty &mdash 01/28/08 - 10:20:05 AM
Your effortless harmonies are just the most vital part of your work. I would invest in a decent medium diaphram condenser mike. I assume you already have a USB input device? Does it have phantom power? If not you will have to get a Phantom power unit for the mike (they're pretty cheap). Your instrument is your voice and you should have the best equipment for it. the condenser mike is also great for picking up the acoustic guitar, which I think you use for backup sometimes.

Thank you, Stephen &mdash 01/28/08 - 03:55:20 PM
Your input ids valuable and much appreciated. I recorded this awhile back and have since gotten a new mic (AKG Perception 200) and an audio interface (Saffire LE) Hopefully, my mic-ing and mixing skills will improve as I experiment. I'm glad you like the harmonies. :-)

Good Choices &mdash 01/28/08 - 06:16:00 PM
That large D condenser will pick up every nuance in your voice and you can't go wrong with the Saffire, you're set. What have you done with it so I can get a listen?

I've been using it since June or July, but I know next to nothing about EQ, so I don't mess with the dials much. Any audio tips would be greatly appreciated. :-)
