Description:
A song about unrequited love.

Annie wasn't her real name and the line about my old girlfriend was poetic licence but everything else pretty much happened the way the song says

Lyrics:
I see you lookin' at Annie, watchin' the way she's walkin' away.
She' fine. No lyin' But don't you notice that the boy's aren't tryin'
No more. No score. She'a good friend but there's no amour.
And in her eyes there's a fire. She do generate the boy's desire.
She's a free mover with a self sufficient air
And if the boys all think she's crazy, well, she just don't care.

You can't tell it in the way that she walks. You don't notice it right away when she talks.
But when it gets right down to it she balks and you know that

Annie likes the girls. Annie likes the girls.

I remember when I first saw her. Burgundy dress with a coral floral print.
She looked at me. Smile was slight. Said there's a lady that I wanna get to know tonight.
Oh what a night. We were dancin' 'til the mornin' light.
Came the dawn, I was on fire. Said "Little girl, you gotta take me higher."
She said, " No! It's not that way. We had our fun but I don't want to stay with you.
No chance." She loved the night and she loved to dance.
What looked like lust was just a wistful glance 'cause

Annie likes the girls. Annie likes the girls, yeah.

I still see Annie 'round the neighborhood and I'm tellin you boys she's still looking good.
She's got a lover. My old girlfriend. When I see her I say,
"How the hell've you been, my friend."
We still go dancin' every now and then and when we moves we set the place on fire.
The boys come up to me and say, "Hey man, let me try her."
So they dance with Annie. They get hooked. They get hot.
They get high like like they'd put down a double shot.
And they'd try to move in one by one. One by one they'd tumble. This girls just havin' fun.
And there's always this guy, you could see it in his eye that it just doesn't click.
He'd moves over to me and say, "Man, what's the matter with that chick?" I say,

"You can't tell it in the way that she walks. You don't notice it right away when she talks.
But when it gets right down to it, she balks and you know that..

Annie likes the girls. Annie likes the girls."

well done &mdash 02/01/06 - 09:54:45 AM
Nice flowing music, great lyrics (but a little busy, tight packed words), and
wonderfully played. You didn't list what software/hardware you used, but
I assume you played at least the guitar :-) Don't have much to critique,
sounded really polished, lots of energy in the music and vocal delivery.

Thank you.

<<..."a little busy, tight packed words"...>>

Yeah, I gotta be careful with tempo on this live or I have to have my tongue
retreaded ( 8>)

<<..."I assume you played at least the guitar"...>>

Yes, Strat and Guild.

<<..."sounded really polished, lots of energy in the music and vocal
delivery"...>>

thanx again. This is the second recording of this song done in '00 and The
Puddle Jumpers laid into it.

Great Tune &mdash 02/07/06 - 08:47:04 AM
daddyg, this is a great track. I am in awe of the lyrical gymnastics. This is
one well laid out song and a hot band.
When I listen to a song I usually have in my head a part that I would add
to satisfy my own musical whims but I like this just as it is.

I have only recently joined MacJams but I am impressed by the quality of
the music on show and this is definately a cut above.

Well done.

Glad you like it and thanx.

This is the most recent version of "Annie..".

I had the original version with the sax intro and solo middle section up here
awhile ago but took it off 'cause 'twas too long (almost 6 mins) and you
always feel that the latest version is better but in this case, they're both pretty
well done, if I do say so myself.

I love this song! Any minute now we will be hearing this one on the radio.
It's so ripe for commerciality, and I mean that as a compliment. It's fun,
bouncy, sad, poignant, great lyrics, tight arrangement, clever, just
wonderful. Can't wait to explore your other music here.

Thanks!

Just my 'cup of tea', very wonderful work here. I wish I can write as 1/4 as your amazing songwriting!
