Lyrics:
Rawhide danger, punching in for round three.
Spurs are digging deep, deep into this night mare,
she's way too old.
Rawhide danger, on the edge of vanity.
Corkscrew turning,
about to taste a bit of insanity.
It's campfire to meet in rawhide
It's campfire, whoa.
Check it out. Retail body bag.
Tell the Mrs. rawhide danger, punching in for round three.
Tell the Mrs. spurs are digging deep,
deep into my night mare, she's way too old.
Rawhide danger, on the edge of vanity.
Corkscrew turning,
about to taste a bit of insanity.
I can't retrace the steps that got me here.
Etched in granite, no way to undo the years.
The works were random. Should have planned them.
The love that you and I and she and he and everybody shared,
it's all good.
Lift your heart above the cold and bitter plain.
Don't refrain from being something in a story,
a brand new category.
Phase in. Phase out.
Rawhide danger, corkscrew turning.
Rawhide danger, punching in for round three.
Spurs are digging deep into my night mare,
she's way too old.
Rawhide danger, on the edge of vanity.
Corkscrew turning,
about to taste a bit of insanity.
Rawhide danger, [I'm a renegade]
punching in for round three. [rawhide blues]
Spurs are digging deep into my night mare.

ride 'em hard... &mdash 02/03/06 - 09:32:27 AM
Great great stuff... as usual! Sil-VER weaves his great melodic/sfx
madness around Richard's twisted lyrics and wonderful delivery. I
couldn't help but like this a lot. My critique is with the ending, it seemed
abrupt. I would have liked it to to fade slightly at the end, then crescendo
to a final chord-hit. It seemed to just fall off the end and stop. But the
production quality, singing, and structure were all superb!

I hear Beatles &mdash 02/03/06 - 10:03:05 AM
feel a bit with the backround vocal sound like in "I am the Walrus". Love
the slide (I think synth sound). I like it especially when you sing hard and
strong!
Interesting and well done rock type sound! [ Reply to This ]

Yes, Sil-VER did a great job producing this. He made it sound a bit like
Eminem in places. Very cool. Now, someone tell me what the lyrics mean -- I
kinda wrote them as I sang them...scratching out sound bites on rawhide with
a piece of campfire charcoal. Sil-VER helped me expunge some demons on
a day that I was feeling quite low about music.

Now this one had a raw edgieness to it that I LUVVED ! COOL vocal FX ... and I liked all the little voices in the background ..... a nice teaming up on this one .... RS - great job on the Vox .... Sil-VER ... amazes me how you are able to collab with different people and come up with something so completely different each time .... you will never get stale. I am really enjoying seeing a lot of MJ-ers come out of their routines ... and song styles to try new stuff. Good job ! [ Reply to This ]

interesting mix.

origianal and interesting music, that of course is very important for the great
result here. Thanks! [ Reply to This ]

Yeah, man. I was real happy that Sil-VER invited me to do this. I sat on his
soundtrack for a couple weeks, not knowing what to write, lyric-wise. I still
don't know what to write, but I guess it turned out alright!
Sil-VER sure knows how to make a song interesting. My relatively "straight"
delivery over his original soundtrack is here. Listen and compare: http://

in a few weeks).

Sil-VER Bullet &mdash 02/03/06 - 05:47:45 PM
Clearly this song is about midlife crisis, but it's somewhat abstract as to
who's the object of the crisis. That's probably a good thing. ;)
Sil-VER has woven a consummate mix here that transforms Mr. Schletty's
original work into something that you might not be surprised to hear on
the next Bowie album. I give this one a SilVER Bullet... very cool.
Richard, you never sounded better... hipper... or younger, than you do on
this performance. Kudos. ;) [ Reply to This ]
Sil-VER Bullet &mdash 02/03/06 - 11:14:30 PM
You got it... it is about mid-life crisis. And it is wide open to interpretation. I can imagine about four settings/scenarios so far...art studio, battlefield, bedroom and sporting arena. But, like you said, better to keep it open. Previous lyrics of mine have been too much of a clearly labeled spoonfeed.
Thanks for your kind comments.

Riveting.... &mdash 02/03/06 - 06:46:20 PM
Rich & Silver, this is a Music Experience. A 360 degree panorama
of a lush, energy-filled audio extravaganza. Rich, you go places
in your vocals and in your vocal arrangement that Captain Kirk
would be jealous of.... : ) Great stuff Schletts! Silver, you again
show yourself a master at muscial soundscapes. Together this is
a blast... a rocking, edgy, emotive song. [ Reply to This ]
Riveting.... &mdash 02/03/06 - 11:23:01 PM
Jack: Your approval means a lot to me. I am grateful for your words.
My advice to jammers: Let loose every once in a while. Step out. Take a chance. Sing and play with abandon. Collaborate. Most of all, don't sell yourself short if someone says you are mediocre. I sang this song on a day I was very depressed about my role in music. Things can turn on a dime. Lastly, stay humble. Magic moments and fortuitous associations can fade quickly.

Rich, you're the David Byrne of the open plains! &mdash 02/03/06 - 07:58:37 PM
If the B-52s and Talking Heads (WITH Brian Eno and Adrien Belew) sat
around jamming and talking and watching re-runs of Fifties and Sixties
cowboy shows, it might result in something like this....
This might just be the coolest thing I've heard from you...
Sil-ver, this is just brilliant and fun and mind-boggling... From what
I've heard of your work, you have a special genius for collaboration...
My hat's off to you here again...

TOO COOL! &mdash 02/03/06 - 11:42:44 PM
Agree with Ed (re B52s and Talking Heads), but also note a bit of Bowie
in there too. Really good to hear SIL-VER expand his horizons (even
more than usual) here, and in doing so, drag the hoonourable Mr
Schletty kicking and screaming with him.. There is no doubt to me
that this is one of the better songs I've heard on MJ - or that it could
hold it's own in the "professional" arena. Brilliant song, brilliant
production - TOO COOL! Easily the best vocal I've heard from you
Richard - truly excellent!

Truly a unique sound that is bound to linger in the brain....I'm always
amazed when people come up with strange/beautiful stuff like
this...Where does it come from? And how can I get some of it for my own
music? Top notch job; definitely a keeper! Thanks!...Norman [ Reply to This ]
Zappa Cowboy!!!!! &mdash 02/05/06 - 03:37:05 PM
Thank you, Norman. Not sure where it comes from. I just put Sil_VER's
soundbed into track 1 of LE7, and started to record my voice onto track 2.
The first track was rather odd and random, so I rewound and started
recording onto track #3. Ah, a theme emerges -- "rawhide hustler" ... or
maybe "rawhide fantasy". I start scratching more words down in pencil onto a
notepad, so I can sing into track 4 with greater surety. By track 4 or 5, the
theme has changed to "rawhide danger" and I have even come up with a rap
interlude -- something I have not really done much of -- never went to rap
school, you know.
Anyway, I take what I got and do my mix (which includes snippets from all the
vox tracks I recorded) and send it to Sil-VER, who proceeds to craft it into an
even loonier and more marvelous thing. For me, the song just happened.
You'll have to ask Sil-VER how he does his thing.

I love how two people from two different musical influences can come
together and create something so cool and unique! It's strange, melodic,
gritty and sonically candy for my ears... great job! [ Reply to This ]
Stylistic Danger? &mdash 02/06/06 - 04:32:25 AM
I think not. A totally refreshing song and unlike what I've heard from
either of you. Silver- another amazing job on production- I really like the
way you used the slide... outstanding!
Richard- I've said this before: You are never one to sit back and keep your
music in your comfort zone. Even though, I will admit I was little surprised
when I saw you listed as a collaborator. My next thought was "Well, this
should be interesting". It was. Very cool and unique delivery- your voice
is excellent and Silver used effects perfectly to bring out the edginess of
the tune. Great work, both of you! [ Reply to This ]
A great combination you two go together like... &mdash 02/06/06 - 11:19:12 AM
...whisky and fine cigars. This track's received saddlebags of praise
already so I'll just say I really enjoyed this track - top performances all
round. Isn't wonderful what sort of collaborations MJ can facilitate - must
be exhilarating to move right out of your comfort zones!

You just know that something is wrong, but you know that you are not
qualified to be the one who should make the assessment. So, you just walk
away scratching your head saying things like, 'wow, a whole page full of
talented and well respected artist didn't hear what I just heard... And most of
them are my favs... You eventually get to, 'what's wrong w/ me'...
You have to admit, there are some fairly unconventional, but very cool things
going on in this tune. And if you don't wait for all of the pieces to come
together, well... It happened...
Thanks for forgiving me though - Cyd
