Description:
This is some kind of a rock song, please don't judge me too hard if it's not exactly prog-rock. Disco dance with big guitars. Different for me. This is me checking out the limits of my old G3 running GB 1, so I confess to some uncreative use of the primary dance loop. No other loops or virtual instruments were used in the making of this track. As for the song, this is a new treatment of a song I wrote 10 years ago. It deals with the way kids look at the world, at God, and at life in general. We could stand to learn from their simplicity.
Here's a link to a live video performance:

Lyrics:
Sweet child, Breath on me
Sweet child, The secrets of heaven are in your eyes
Sweet child, Speak to me
Sweet child, The secrets of heaven are open wide
Chorus:
Tell me you story, sing your song
Your words are short but your eyes tell long
How do you know the one who is God
I want to know through the eyes of a child
Sweet child, Your love is fair
Sweet child, Pure is your love for the devine
Sweet child, You speak of beauty
Sweet child, Teach this world how to love again
Chorus
Hardware:
G3 Blue and White
Motu 2408 mk II

Fantastic! It's not often that my songs are anywhere near "danceable". [ Reply to This ]

And you are right about the kids.
"Could stand to learn from their simplicity."

This is the first tune I've heard by you. It sure won't be the last. This is
played well. Mixed well. Sung beautifully. Very nice lyrics. [ Reply to This ]

Well Done &mdash 02/04/06 - 08:57:54 PM
Think you nailed my primary criticism. You need to get one of the people
that do drums to fix that track.
Vocals are right on. Song is decent. Lyrics are fine.
Reminds me of radio play stuff from when I was in college. Not bad. [ Reply to This ]

as you comment, the song loses a little something with the repetitive drum loop. However, I love the vocal sound - I've heard incredible things about the Rhode condenser mics and it sounds like they really live up to their reputation after listening to this. I like the layered vocals and the feel of the song. It's got a kinda Zooropa-era U2 vibe to it in both the lyrics and the music. Would like to hear the guitars a little higher in the mix, but that's a minor quibble. Keep working on it to vary up the drum patterns and I think you'd have a great song.

Thanks Malachai. I think you're right about the loop. I'll spend some
more time on it and repost. One of the issues for me is that I'm running
such an old computer, that when I'm running GB, it's a second and a half
lag between pressing play and getting a response. It makes it pretty
frustrating to do anything other than recording with live
instruments(which works surprisingly well). Anyways, thanks for the
comments.

Good Sketch / Demo &mdash 04/29/06 - 11:57:46 AM
I like the song here - and I hope you work on it some more. As you and
others have noted, the drums get monotonous and I'm not sure if it's my
ears (it's allergy season), but the entire audio sounds like someone
wrapped my headphones in gauze - it sounds distant and blurry. [ Reply to This ]
