Description:
After listening to some old songs recently, I realized a few need a severe overhaul as I wasn't able to achieve the sound I'd originally intended for them.
So, in a long line of remixes I need to do, System Failure is the first. Bigger drums, bigger guitars and a bit more distortion, here it is! This track features guitar solo by chikoppi.

hey PoS , really like your stuff, especially all the interesting stuff that you do with the vocals. I'd actually like to hear the vocals a little more. I love the establishment vs. anti-establishment sentiment in the lyrics and wish I could have them more up front in the mix of this song.
I also like how you're not afraid to fly in the face of conventional song-writing techniques - your arrangements are always more interesting than simple verse-chorus-verse-chorus.

Thanks TMI, great to hear you dig the loud stuff! I have a thing about vocals. I
guess I'm from the school of Al Jourgenson when it comes to approaching them.
Often times, I'll approach them as an intrument and not a singular presence that
needs to be in the forefront of the song. In fact, when I was done mixing it, I
knew people would make the observation they're too quiet and I suppose in a
way they are.
The way I look at it though, is they're not that important to the track, heheh! I
promise the vox will be more present in my next track. :D... I think

cool cool tune....dig those monster guitars, great big sound. Great
vocals. cool lyrics. It's sort of got that Jeff Beck industrial sound that
he's gotten into on his last 3 albums. Believe me...that's a really really

Thanks AO. I love that beat, too. I knew I wanted to make a track one day with
that "Adam Ant" style beat. But I wanted it really big and only now had the
knowledge to pull it off.

the drums sound great and the gtr is cool too-you've really got the
style down-somewhere between 9-inch and marilyn m....the gtr could
be a little more up to my ears and slightly less distortion can make it
heavier ( if that's what you want)--i luv the distorted vox-a great job-

Strange thing about this. The guitar is louder on the iPod... at least on mine with
the in-ear buds, hehe! This is the happy medium I was able to find, which makes
me really appreciate those production guys that can make a track sound perfect
in the car, home and headphones!

I have to admit the first version was not one on my top list from you.
This remix however has cleaned up and is much much better. Yes I
still think the vocals could be louder as you have a great vocal delivery
here.The beats really make this track move along nicely along with the
excellent guitar.Excellent lyrics and songwriting.
Playing nice and LOUD right now in my itunes...heh heh

It's really tough to maintain interest in a song with a central theme
playing for the duration of the song (drums)... but you manage to keep
it interesting and exciting.
Great production. I think you're completing coming into your own
now. Your style and sense of production and space are all coming
together.
...wonder if it has anything to do with that new PowerMac you got
leaving room to open all of the doors you wanted to open before???

DC, my long haired brutha from anotha mutha! Thanks for the comment. You
really hit the nail on the head... I mean how long can that drum beat go on
before you want to ring someone's neck? I actually shaved off a little time from
the original because of that.
Yes, having the processing power to remove limitations is DEFINITELY a plus. I
find I can really mess around without getting tired of trying. Plus, I think the
more we make music, the more time we spend on tracks. We learn more tricks,
subtleties, and patience... but the Dual G5 helps... ALOT!

Thanks Dadai, that really means alot to me. Y'know, I don't normally reply to the comments posted for the pure fact that is makes it harder for me to read the comments delivered to me, but I thought I'd make a concerted effort on this one, my first remix. This song represents much of how I feel about the world we live in. A world that's falling apart due to the most inane of reasons. Superb track. Fantastic drums which strangely you don't get tired of - how did you do that? I'd like the guitars LOUDER and DEEPER - but they already sound brilliant; I'm just nit-picking. Great production on the vocals and full of emotion - something severely lacking in most tracks.
