Description:
This song expresses something of what it is
to get to know my granddaughter Elizabeth.
She is a joy to watch and to experience.
This is my second submission of "songs for
my grandchildren." The first one is

Lyrics:
Little girl, not yet two
With a smile and the golden hair,
Little girl, sitting there
What's behind those eyes so blue?
Gazing out at this world around you,
Taking in all there is
And then you turn and look right at me,
With a wink and a smile.
Little girl, precious dear
It seems to me you can tell,
Little girl, quiet one
As you play, all is well.
Every moment's a treasure to find
As you reach for something new.
Then I catch your eye and look right at you,
With a wink and a smile.

It's that Dadai sound &mdash 02/06/06 - 02:00:22 AM
From the first strum of the guitar and that careful guitar plucking, I could hear it, that sound you've managed to make for your own Jack.
This is an especially warm and tender song. Your voice is right in place when you deliver such careful whispery vocals. The arrangement is also suited to the mood and theme of the song.
Beautiful played, and a beautiful song.
D/L and gets into my box of favourites:) [ Reply to This ]

Always enjoy your comments. The "Dadai sound", eh... I like that : )
My daughter just heard this song (I gave it to her on a CD
yesterday). I was a little nervous. Would she like it? And would it
remind her of Elizabeth? She gave me a "yes" to both questions.
I am happy.

Thanks much, Bill, for your comments. One of my New Year's
resolutions was to write a song for my other two grandkids. So
now I have one to go. I am still getting used to the idea of being
a grandpa. Hard to believe I have three already and another one
the way (hmmm, make that two more songs to go). Blessings...

What a special gift &mdash 02/06/06 - 07:39:24 AM
to be able to give your grandchildren a song you wrote for each. And
such a beautiful song! Calm and peaceful, tender and warm. I can hear
seagulls because I picture you and your granddaughter playing on the
beach. Thank you for sharing this personal song with us. :-) [ Reply to This ]
What a special gift &mdash 02/06/06 - 12:14:30 PM
If children are a gift of the Lord, then grandchildren are doubly so.
I enjoy doing these songs so much... I guess 'cause I do enjoy my
children and theirs so much. Thanks for listening and leaving your
thoughts.

Mellow moment &mdash 02/06/06 - 10:14:58 AM
Such a warm and reflective mood you set here. Very nice series of
songs you are producing about your grandkids. Something they will
treasure in years to come. Your voice is excellent here. And your
instrumentation is very fine. [ Reply to This ]

A Dream about a Dream.
Lovely and Strong. She seems to breath Life to You "With A Wink and A
Smile".
A Fine presentation of her impact and influence on you and your
perception of the complex Beauty there. Your Talent seemlessly
blends your perception and the telling of it ("the Dancer and the
Dance").
Another stand-out offering from you.
With Appreciation and Best Regards,

I'm a grandpa as well, so I know how special this song is for you. I still
haven't written any songs about mine. Heck, I haven't written any for my
children either! I better get crackin'...
God bless,

This is luck SQUARED! &mdash 02/07/06 - 07:34:09 PM
I mean, you're blessed and lucky that you've got these grandchildren,
and then you're blessed and lucky that you've got the chops to write
them songs that let them know what kind of grandfather they have and
how much he loves them, and then THEY'RE lucky that they've got a
grandfather that has a heart like this and considers it somewhere
beyond important and maybe all the way over to essential or REQUIRED
to let them know about it, and they are ALSO lucky that you've got the
chops and heart and everything to write them the songs that let them
know...
The vocal is great, and full of feeling, without false drama. Sounds like
what it is. And your guitar playing is right on time, right in tune, and
the lead notes are very pretty. Good tone, too. Ya didn't mention under
'Hardware'...what kind of guitar is that again?....
[Kaman oughta hire you as a consultant...]
What a nice treat. Brightens my night...
Thanks, Jack,

Ed, I have told you before how much I appreciate your comments (especially
those about my beautiful Applause!). Suffice to say, there are a number of
musicians here I would love to jam or record with. Well, you are right at the
top of my list. And in addition to that, I can't think of anyone here I'd like to
to spend a day with, getting to know, more than you. You make macjams
a better place every time you contribute, music...comments... forum input.
Thanks...

You have the gift of encouragement, Ed. Sorry it took so long to respond to your comments. I do shake my head in amazement at how the blessings of my children and now their children how graced my life. To be able to put something of that into lyrics and music is one small way I can let them know that.
If you can grease the skids for me with the Kaman Corp., please do. LOL.
Thanks for listening and for your supportive comments.

Very warm! &mdash 02/08/06 - 10:55:06 AM
I recognized a very warm soundfrom the beggining with this!! Very nice and subtle use of strings here, many people tend to overdo their strings, but you dont! They sound very good. Your guitarplaying sounds very relaxed and has this flowing sound. I always love this kind of soothing songs, it sounds so honest and relaxed. Actually it made me think of Sinatra, Dont know what i felt that sounded like him... Maybe its the soothing sound? Nice track Dadai! It goes into my favourites! [ Reply to This ]

That just makes you feel all warm inside! There's so much more to this
when you think about it, isn't there. When your granddaughter grows up,
this will be such a powerful memory to have of you. Wonderful sentiment
and a perfect lullaby to her. [ Reply to This ]

ah, the "Dadai Sound"
although, I kinda picture the DS with harmonica and harmonies . . .
nice tune D. Some day, Liz will be digging through a box of stuff,
discover a copy of this, and smile as she pictures her grandfather
winking at her. [ Reply to This ]
Lucky granddaughter &mdash 02/12/06 - 05:41:28 PM
Wow. The tenderness in your voice, the joy, the tone that sounds almost like you are on the verge of crying...perfect.
This will be something to play to her again on her sixteenth birthday. She'll be outwardly embarrassed, but beaming with pride and love on the inside. [ Reply to This ]

So sweet. The love you are chronicling is previous and timeless. Such a

done as you make it sound. You are becoming the resident master of the

Make sure you preserve these songs so that your grandkids can hear
them later in their life. This will be something special in their life that
not many people have.
Beautiful, sweet melody. Nice, sparse leads support but don't
overshadow the vocal. Excellent! [ Reply to This ]

This is an especially warm and tender song. Your voice is right in place when you deliver such careful whispery vocals. The arrangement is also suited to the mood and theme of the song.
