Awe......... &mdash 02/06/06 - 10:22:25 AM
This is a beautiful and evocative piece. It has now taken first place in my Tom Atwood favourites, over Revolving Doors.
It will join a small group of tunes by Macjammers that are on my iPod Nano.
Thanks for letting myself and fellow MJers listen to and appreciate this concept.

Thanks for those kind words, Reinholt56. Glad you took the time to listen to
this lengthy piece. Glad you like Revolving Doors, too. Thanks again!

You not only have... &mdash 02/06/06 - 10:41:45 AM
the heart of a composer, you really have the skill. How you
"hear" this music and then translate it to the audio
composition is a wonderful talent and gift. Thanks for posting
all four movements together. To be DL-d when the work
day is done.

I am truely impressed! &mdash 02/06/06 - 11:07:59 AM
This is such an interesting suite. So much happening.
Listening to all the parts in a row, I hear a lot more depth and drama in
here than while listening to the separate parts! I am impressed about
how you have managed to make the parts follow so naturally upon
each other. Each part prepares for the next and each part comes as a
natural answer to the previous!
Beautiful Tom!
Just wonderful!
I am truely impressed!

Congrats Tom on finishing the project. I've got all four separate parts
already, but will download this when I can leave the phone off the hook all
day. :-) At 24kbps it will take probably that long to download. :-)
God bless,

pretty damn epic &mdash 02/06/06 - 05:39:21 PM
. and a lot of work as well. i would be interested in hearing about your
work (on music )schedule and how you structure and balance your
days to get all this great work done. i dont coment on songs here a
lot, not because i dont care, i have a good sized colection of macjam
songs and i listen to them most of the time. you folks are the most
interesting thing going. and you tom are right near the top. but with
art i am more interested in learning from the process, mine or others,
than the finished work.
there are some amazingly gracefull pasages and surprises. great work [ Reply to This ]

How do I balance and structure my days? I am not sure that I do. Sometimes
they are out of balance because I spend too much time doing this. I'll email
you. Thanks, Tim!

I think I've used too many adjectives... &mdash 02/07/06 - 11:29:47 AM
...in describing these pieces separately (as well as the rest of your works posted). They all sound pretty worn now: beautiful, amazing, inspiring. But they still apply.
As I've told you already, Tom, these are wonderful compositions, and it's been inspiring for me to watch you expand your musical reach with each new piece.
Thank you for letting me add my voice to these; it's an honor.

Thanks, Cat, for your unfailing support. Your voice brings life to this piece -
like a human spirit floating among the animatrons. Or something like that?

Listen, Tom... &mdash 02/07/06 - 07:56:44 PM
...this will sound wrong, but the more I listen to your music, the more
it strikes me that you sound like a REAL composer, and not like what
some might conceive to be some lesser, "Internet composer", or
something...
You're just genuinely good.
You're not pointlessly arty, or dissonant to prove a point, nor is your
music full of cliches, nor does it sound like it's trying too hard. It
varies, but it sounds like you in all varieties.
And your recordings are perfect.

I'm not sure what I am, Ed, but what you said sounds good. In fact, if I ever
release another CD, can I use those comments?
Seriously, I do appreciate your remarks. In fact, your response is what I hope
for when doing this, so, thanks for that. The check is in the mail!

Holy geez wow! &mdash 02/09/06 - 01:47:11 AM
I'm kind of awestruck. I'm not really sure what to say other than this is
a really powerful piece! Wonderful sound of nature and the
arrangement is beautiful! When Mysti's voice swells in it becomes even
more captivating! Quite an Opus!
Not sure what that lead instrument is in the second movement, but it's
absolutely splendid... has an asian flavor to it! Dazzling little rhythmic
ensemble happening in that one.
Ooo, then the third kicks in... the "single" of the four with it's catchy
melody. The life of an ouzel is truly a magical one! This is perhaps my
favorite of the four although, I haven't heard the 4th movement, yet.
I'm typing as I listen...
Wow, maybe the life of an ouzel is quite perilous based on the
beginning of this fourth and final movement! Very dark, with accents of
Peter Gabriel. Oh man, this is great! Mysti's voice just came in to
accompany a haunting piece that sound like a bit from all over the
world. Very cinematic!
Wow... 10s

Thanks Mr Gray. The lead instrument in the 2nd part is an Erhu Violin, from
Jampack 6. Funny that you call part 3 the "single," because I agree with you it
is probably the most accessible section (although I doubt if any of these will
ever be played on the radio). Again, I appreciate the comments and and 10s
(in spirit).

Ahhh yes... &mdash 02/24/06 - 01:10:23 PM
When you do large pieces like this, it is nice to hear all the parts together.
There are too many short songs around here (especially mine), so this is a
nice change of pace. I think I enjoyed part 1 the best, for it's amazing
build and subtlety, then part 4 for the little things you threw in, such as
the "bird-like" sounds. The whole thing was nice, in fact, but I have a
little hangup about part 3... and it is because it reminds me of Canon in
D. I don't think it was your intention to sound like this piece, in fact I like
how your melody goes in different directions, but I am just so sick of
Canon in D! Just had to vent a little, that's all. Otherwise, great work... [ Reply to This ]
