Description:
Imaginary place of serenity and peace. Timeless, remote and strangely familiar...
...or, more true to reality, another evening session that started with a simple, innocent desire to express a cheerful and tranquil mood through music. Well, that's what I was trying to do anyways! Feedback welcome as usual.

great &mdash 02/08/06 - 11:24:20 AM
ebb and flow of dissonance and consonance, unusual but curiously
attractive interjections of this and that among the swelling and subsiding
waves of music. There's something very fun about this piece, with your
consistently wafting fabric of strings interrupted occasionally by bumpy
arpeggio-creatures. Not exactly calming, but imaginative and curiosity-
inducing! This is another Fave/Download of yours!

Very warm &mdash 02/10/06 - 08:17:59 AM
Really soundtracky piece, perhaps more of a video game soundtrack than
movie - but it's all good :) (Sim City 4 jumps into mind, for some reason).
Really like the piano and the marimba - I've always had a thing for the
marimba. Don't know why, really...
Anyway, very nice work, yet again!
A definate fav & a DL! [ Reply to This ]

Thanks Einarus! This wasn't actually meant to become a soundtrack...and, yes, what would life be without those sweet marimbas, vibraphones and glockenspiels! [ Reply to This ]

I considered changing the percussion to a more modern trip hop beat, but decided to keep the slightly jazzy and simple drums instead. Thanks for stopping by Mungo! [ Reply to This ]
Lush (with undertones...) &mdash 02/10/06 - 01:08:39 PM
A sound that spreads like warm Nutella. It's witty and lush but with
undertones - like basking in the sunshine whilst reading a rather creepy
crime novel...
Good stuff!

Great Production &mdash 02/12/06 - 12:28:53 AM
What a good piece of music! I also like that you didn't stay sweet all the
way through with the added percussion and piano.
Your recording was very professional sounding and the production was
excellent.
Very nice. [ Reply to This ]
Musical poetry &mdash 02/22/06 - 09:59:06 PM
This song is pure poetry, ebb and flow. I really enjoyed it. What is that deep, wood sound in the background? Marimba? [ Reply to This ]

This is the second track of yours that I listen to, and I really like your
synth programming and the sense of space you give to your tracks. Some
sounds are miles far away from the listener, but still audible, and it all
adds up to a delicious soundscape. Very nicely done.
What software do you use?

Garageband, with midi keyboard. Quite simple really. Instruments are usually tweaked with the usual effects. Thanks for stopping by! [ Reply to This ]
I Love This &mdash 11/10/06 - 07:32:26 PM
Something very Thomas Newman-y about the swelling strings in this--sort of a slightly disquieting counterpoint to the overall chilled vibe of the piece. That's a good thing--he's my fave composer.;) [ Reply to This ]

Big fan of Thomas Newman myself. This piece I did before I heard of him, but the comparison is very encouraging as I'm trying to do more music in this style. Thanks for your comment, Max! [ Reply to This ]

A beautiful piece of work--very serene yet with dark undertones. Very dramatic. [ Reply to This ]
