Lyrics:
RANDOM
Stacey K. Black

Is it all Random?
Or is someone pulling the strings?
Is is all Ransom?
Or do I have a choice in what my future brings?

Is there really some higher entity
choosing the words for this song today?
Well, I would like a say.

I want to choose
(I want to choose)
though I may lose
(win or lose)
even if I draw, it must be my fault.

Is it all Random?
Is each breath a happy mistake?
Is it all Random
that we feel compelled to give as much as we take?

Is it really fair that
life must go on
and on... and on... and on...

Lovely and Wistful &mdash 02/08/06 - 06:16:28 PM
Hey, Stacey... a lovely and wistful tune, performed and sung with
nuance and restraint --- without ruining the emotion of it. Very nice,
indeed.

Your voice has a very lovely, charming and personal feel to it,
reminding me somewhat of Karen Carpenter, who had a great deal of
success with such ballads.

My only suggestions would be: 1) change the rinky-tink piano. It seems
somewhat distracting in the overall context of your orchestration.

2) Post your lyrics; many of us like to consider that element of the
song, as well.

But this is a beautiful performance. You have a lovely voice and a very
soulful style. Welcome to MacJams!

for pointing me in the direction of this amazing talent. Audibly
delicious. This is one of the most powerful voices I've heard. And the
mix is excellent. Very professional and polished. Superb! Thanks Stacey
for sharing your music here.

Great voice &mdash 02/09/06 - 12:34:04 PM
I'd ease back on some of that delay and ensure it is more syncopated -
currently it distracts form your voice. But overall the vocal is one of the
best if not THE best I've heard here.
Great stuff!

moody and nice &mdash 02/09/06 - 04:08:52 PM
great vocals - quite a range you have there! - and a nicely moody piece. I have to agree with Pie that the echo, while interesting at the end of certain phrases, is a bit distracting most of the time. I'd try having a second vocal track for effects and only bring in the echo occasionally, to keep it out of the way.

Nice ballad.... &mdash 02/09/06 - 07:23:21 PM
... I can almost imagine it as a key song in a musical theater piece...

You've got a great voice and great phrasing. Dramatic without phony
"drama"...direct enought to carry emotional weight.

I'll agree with the notion of tweaking the delay, although I think the
piano sound sort of works in the style and with those other big echoey
sounds around it... More than that, though, I want to note that the
song is strong, and so is the performance, and if the backing track was
JamPack Eight: Kazoos and Tin Whistles, I think the tune and
performance would shine through...

Kazoos and tin whistles? Now, why didn't I think of that! Thank you very much for taking the time to listen and your very awesome comments!

Lovely Tune Stacy &mdash 02/10/06 - 02:17:42 PM
You have a great vocal instrument Stacey. This is a very spiritual tune. I think you do a good job of expressing the the questions we all ask ourselves about purpose, being and destiny. There's a yearing in your lyrics and voice. This is the first song of yours I've listened to where it isn't about some guy whos screwed you over and you want to rip his heart out and eviscerate him lol. Although those songs are well done also. I admire your abilites to use loops and your arangements. I just started with GB band about two weeks ago. I have a long ways to go towards this end myself. I tend to think in a more linear way and just record my instruments and vocals. I was showing my wife GB the other day and she made a comment I think is apprapo that " Garage Band is like a musical collage ". You have a real talent for this keep it up. I reaally enjoy your songs.

Lovely Tune Stacy &mdash 02/10/06 - 08:58:25 PM
Thank you so very much! And yes, I have MANY more songs about those nasty
men out there. And also, some great tunes praising them as well... but not
nearly as many... haha. Thanks again for listening!
