Description:
The first love,
the first fight,
the first everything...
Still working on this one.
Vocals: Me
Acoustic Guitar: Joe Stansberry
Cymbal: Me on my keyboard
Lyrics:
THE FIRST
Stacey K. Black
You're looking to me as if I have all the answers
I'm searching for clues myself
is there a message written across the sky?
Maybe we should ask somebody else.
You're looking to me as if I can change the future
I'm just trying to find my way
I connect the dots
I paint by numbers everyday.
You see it in my eyes it's left unspoken
this is The First heart I've broken.
You wanna find out if I know if we'll survive this.
Well your guess is as good as mine.
Does anybody have a rulebook?
The only thing that will tell is time.
You see it in my eyes this shameful token
yours is The First heart I've broken.
Your tears leave me
unbalanced, speechless mired in duality
my fears warn me
that I could lose you for all eternity.
You're looking to me as if I can read your mind now
I just want to understand
is there a reason you abandoned me?
Is there a safe place for me to land?
I see it in your eyes it's left unspoken
mine isn't The First heart you've broken.

Let me be the first to comment on The First! &mdash 02/08/06 - 01:53:55 PM
First let me say I really like you voice - you've a good dynamic range -
and I had a sense here of some considerable vocal power held in reserve.
The tune's sweet and I liked the lyrics (and the idea behind them).
Perhaps you need to work on the accompaniment a little - I like the
understated approach but maybe a little more variety in the guitar styling
is called for. Alternatively, dropping the guitar slightly in the mix and
bringing up the mid and bass frequencies might be all that's needed.
Enjoyed this a lot - welcome to MacJams!

welcome to MJ &mdash 02/08/06 - 06:00:48 PM
You have a terrific in-tune voice. Very pleasant to listen to. Nice harmonic
vocals. Love to hear more of that in the future, you have that gift, please
use it more cause that is terrific! Lots of female singers don't milk that
and it is a real powerful musical treat! Not that you don't know that. Lots
of great expression in your voice! And all in tune :) wow!

Terrific Tune! &mdash 02/08/06 - 06:16:21 PM
I really enjoyed listening to this! You've got a great voice and the way you
sing and give meaning to the words is marvelous. The harmonies are
excellent, too.
I agree that the accompaniment could use a little something to keep it
from getting too repetitive.
Very nice! A great start here--Welcome to MacJams! :)

Terrific Tune! &mdash 02/08/06 - 06:32:31 PM
Yes, but... &mdash 02/08/06 - 06:41:32 PM
Yes, the accompaniment is the weak point of this arrangement, but I don't
think that detracts from the overall impact of the song... or your vocal
performance, which is bound to be the main attraction in any of your
songs. Obviously, it will only get better with whatever improvements you
can make to the sound bed.
Your voice sounds so dynamic and yet so natural. What a lovely gift you've
been given. Have you had voice training? [ Reply to This ]
Yes, but... &mdash 02/08/06 - 10:56:22 PM
No, no voice training since high school choir! But wow, thanks for that! [ Reply to This ]
Vocal Certainty &mdash 03/09/06 - 06:09:47 AM
Wonderful singer-songwriter track. The strength and certainty of your
voice with just the single self accompaniment is very effective, evocative;
but the touches of harmony add an ethereal, inside-your-head thought-
world aspect that is completing, even within the context of this open-mic
demo style presentation. Wonderful track. [ Reply to This ]
