Description:
This song is one out of six (the fifth, in order) that I composed in a 24-hour period--a sort of challenge that I accepted from a fellow MacJammer because I thought it....well....sounded like a good challenge ;)

Though it has a few imperfections, I decided to post it as-is, since that seemed part of the charm of even DOING something as quirky as trying to compose six songs in a 24-hour period.

Enjoy!

You kill me. You really kill me. That voice! I am adding it to my growing
collection of MJ songs.

Nope, nope, nope. &mdash 02/13/06 - 07:47:00 PM
Okay, what you say is, "I hope this came out all right... I slaved over it
for two weeks, tweaking the vocal overdubs, rewriting the intertwining
vocal lines...adding scant milliseconds to the cascading reverb effects
until I got the Enya-plays-Fizbin effect I was looking for.."

But nooo.....

"What? Oh this old thing? Why, I just composed it on the fly, off the
cuff, from random thoughts and old rags... Had to get it done in such a
rush, 'cause I HAD FIVE MORE TO COMPOSE IN TWENTY_FOUR HOURS
AND, Y'KNOW, I HAD TO SLEEP FOR EIGHT OF THOSE...and there was
breakfast to figure in, too..."

Who else on this site would put Kobayashi Maru in their keywords, I ask
you?

(thepeep, by the way, just inherited an ancient G3 iMac and is happily
roaming the island of Myst... Just about to take his first jaunt to
Channelwood, if I'm not mistaken...)

Very space-istic composition, well possessed of space-itude and
space-ossity...

Ed

My goodness.... &mdash 02/13/06 - 08:01:23 PM
couldn't put it in a better persepective than Ejh. I simply don't know how you pump out quality tune after tune....MAGIC I suppose...and I continue to be mystified. I need to go and catch up on your tunes that I've missed. Without saying, my bet is on you for winning this challenge. Forever a fan:)

Yeah that's &mdash 02/13/06 - 08:27:57 PM
spacey. :) I sure spaced out. Wow what a challenge! And this is #5?!?!?
Wow wonder what the other 5 sound like! Clear and soothing.

Especially like the little announcement at the beginning. Perfect.

This is just outright unfair &mdash 02/14/06 - 06:29:19 AM
Bah - just read Ed's comment again. He pretty much captures it.

Anyway - this is beautiful stuff. So epic and soaring.
A homerun every time, huh? It seems like it.
(Icelanders can make baseball references, too, you know? :))

Beautiful.

Lounging &mdash 02/14/06 - 06:46:03 AM
Some nice melodies in there, like the little arpegiation if thats what it is in
the background keeps movement in the piece. Keep up the good work.

I feel harmony, and I flow like an angel in the sky.
Solid production and performance.
Very nice...very nice, indeed.

this is very cool... i love the pulsating beats underneath it all... and your
voice (while pretty far back), sounds amazing!

i like that challenge of writing 6 in 24 hours - i had to challenge myself
yesterday to write at all!

but yeah, nice textures, beautiful!

You do this so well...you have an exceptional ear for melody and
interesting musical movements. The transcendentalist in me loves
your music!! Thanks! kelli

How do you breathe up there? &mdash 02/14/06 - 02:15:53 PM
Great ethereal work, as usual... I have one thing that I would have done
slightly differently, I'd have slowly morphed the constant bass-
thumping over the piece, it got a little monotonous, sounding the same
throughout... I'd have it "flare out" slowly about halfway through,
maybe fade other instruments in with it to alter its timbre as you near
the end of the piece. Otherwise, I loved your swirling voice, and the
pretty instrumentation. Look at all the keywords you got first dibs on!
Great image and nice intro. I am hoping that the other pieces you have
done are related to this journey, so we can collect the whole set from
countdown anxiety through touchdown on "Planet Erehwon".

Really Fab! &mdash 02/17/06 - 05:52:32 PM
I love this one...can't believe you did 6 songs in 24 hours! That is some
achievement. I love it when you do these more electronic ones... spacey
and ethereal with those trademark vocals
Great
Steve
