Description:
This is a song that I wrote back in 1995. I recorded it in 1995, and again in 1999 in a different key. This is the 1995 version. The song was written after a breakup from a girlfriend back at the end of 1994, and about an experience of sitting at a bar and drinking 7/7's. The "pile of straws" reference in the song is about the pile of straws that plled up after many drinks. The way to count the drink consumed was the count the tiny straws collected.Lyrics:
Out in the depths of tragic love deathsThat's where you'll find my soul There's no need to look far But where ever you are Don't go looking for This damn cold Well it's cold here in paradise I want to try but I'll never get off the ice A pile of straws won't protect me from the storm Oh I want to go home I let love take me too high Then drop me too hard It's like I've broken all of my bones If you come to my rescue me gentle with me Cause I've also broken my soul Well it's cold here in paradise I want to try but I'll never get off the ice A pile of straws won't protect me from the storm Oh I want to go home Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh--Ahhhhhhhhhhhh So out in he cold dark fears of misery lane That's where you'll find my face Emptying troubles with some company And replacing them back At a never slowing pace Well it's cold here in paradise I want to try but I'll never get off the ice A pile of straws won't protect me from the storm Oh I want to go home Ohhhhhh Oh it's cold here in paradise Ohhhh-Ohhhh-Ohhhh-Ahhhhhhhhh Oh I want to go home Ohhhhhh Oh it's cold here in paradise Ohhhh-Ohhhh-Ohhhh-Ahhhhhhhhh Oh I want to go home Well it's cold here in paradise I want to try but I'll never get off the ice A pile of straws won't protect me from the storm Oh I want to go home |
