Description:
This is a fun poppie rock tune I wrote for my second Japanese album, Second Coming, which is due out on 3 March. Hope you enjoy!
Lyrics:
Dear My Colleagues
dear my colleagues,
have a nice evening!
with that, you are leaving the office wasting no time at all
and here we are stuck and awestruck
i look back and see your empty desk
oh, its a cold cold world out there
it seems wrong if you think that you're still young
im just worried about you
you dont have to push yourself so hard
dear my colleagues
arent you a bit tired of living so squarely?
i know you are tied up with these old voodoo bollocks
i think thats where you got your temper
oh its a cold cold world out there
i know youve been living tough like Cher
but im just worried about you
you dont need to push yourself so hard
its your last day in our office
what is it that you are hiding behind the smile youre wearing
you look sad when youre staring at the young girl whos taking you over
but again you dont seem to notice me staring at you at all
why?
go! march! proceed! girls go!!

I had a blast listening to this. You really grabbed right from the beginning
with the bouncing piano. Also, your vocal performance in this is great -
near flawless, even!
Excellent solo that comes in at 1:30.
I really liked the change of mood and vibe around the 3 minute mark.
Again, very nice guitar work.
I've said it before and I'll gladly say it again - you truly are a great
songwriter!

You tell those squares! &mdash 02/14/06 - 04:14:10 PM
Great pop song. Well written, good production, little touches such as the
wah guitar to keep it interesting; in all this quite perfect. I think I'll vote a
couple of 10s, which is very rare for me.

Solid, Straight-Ahead Pop &mdash 02/18/06 - 01:45:58 PM
Very nicely done piece of work. All the elements are thoughtfully and
tastefully done with restraint, making them all work together for the best
of the song. And the mix is crisp and clear, giving each of those elements
its own spotlight in the presentation.
This tune reminds me of some of the more memorable pop pieces of the
70s... Badfinger and Pilot (*Magic*) in particular. Good stuff.
Lots of nice guitar work in here, too... tasteful solo. I hope your album
does well. ;-) [ Reply to This ]

there's something about listening to a pop song in a different
language that frees up the over analytical/critical part of my listener
brain to not focus on lyrics and just enjoy how it feels--thanks for all
your spirited, playful and inventive songs-j.h!!rawk on! [ Reply to This ]
