Description:
Another song.

Another one track wonder. The preamp is making this possible, so thanks to the kind people who made it.

I am beginning to view my recordings more like photographs, and I may keep recording this way. It's just a captured moment in time. Maybe there are mistakes, some mis-sung words, but whatever.

This may be structurally a little weird... It just seemed to long to do another chorus.

Oh - one more thing... I believe there's a band called the Impossible Truth. This is not a song about them.

Lyrics:
let the cat out
the bag's getting old
let the cat out
into the cold hard world

where lies are truth
and the constant reporters
are disturbing our youth
casting judgement every way but home

mr. newsman
mr. president
mr., all i can do
is tell the truth

mr. newsman
mr. president
mr., i all i ask
is for the truth
the impossible truth

it wasn't black or white
until you bleached the grey away
now everything's right
and i'm left wondering what's wrong

stole my innocence with a handshake
spit on me as a proof of purchase
thought you'd make it to daybreak
but you're still listening for the sun

mr. newsman
mr. president
mr., all i can do
is tell the truth

mr. newsman
mr. president
mr., i all i ask
is for the truth
the impossible truth

now reality, it is your hunger
it's what's on in your eyes
like when you - you were younger
your botched up lies just keep getting older

let the cat out
let the cat out

is it political, or is it prophetic?
Well, it's sweet anyways.
Good Job sir.
Tell the truth.

thanks 4ERO!

a friend of mine would tell you that everything you believe is political, that that's
the definition of politics. so maybe it's political. i feel compelled to keep my
meaning to myself and let you take your own, though.

that's my truth.

Halfway through this song now, and i am beginning to think that this might be the bes darren locke tune that i have ever heard! Its so dynamic and organic! The rythm in your guitarplay is so great!! The recording is damn good, It doesnt sound like you have recorded this song, it sounds like you are playing it and enjoying it! Your voice and the guitar sounds, Do you have a secret for getting this good Live recordings? The lyrics on this are great, I think i might not taken enough notice in your lyrics before....... Your best? &mdash 02/19/06 - 11:01:40 PM
thank you selters! :)

no secrets here - i just put the mic halfway between me and my guitar and me
and kinda sang downwards. i think the tube preamp really helped.

your voice is cool, vocals seem a little quiet and in the background but not bad. i prefer recording as one track as well, but don't have my pa hooked to my comp, so i just use a comp mic which doesn't work the best. pretty creative lyrics. actually the whole recording seems a bit on the quiet side.

sounds goot to me &mdash 02/20/06 - 10:01:06 PM
at first i thought the style of the vocals just didn't really fit, but as the
song continued i got into them maybe just because i got used to them
but you have a good voice nonetheless, the acoustic was good! and i
thought the build up in the power of the voice and loudness (i wish i
could think right now cuz im sure there is a better word) and the
strumming in the acoustic was done well, overall good job! lyrics were
great as well!

a la Neil Young &mdash 02/23/06 - 10:01:20 AM
Reminds me a LOT of Neil Young, and that ain't a bad thing. I love his honest and introspective, sometimes politcal tunes. I will have to check out your other offerings now.

Downloading now...

My wife will like this. Thank you...

joni &mdash 02/23/06 - 02:54:47 PM
I get an association to Joni Mitchell. Your singing along to a single guitar reminds me of her early works. Even your vox has some similarities to hers.

Good song, and you've captured that live feeling that selters talks about.

Current and intimate &mdash 03/06/06 - 09:26:40 PM
How timely. And it sounds like as if you were singing right beside me on a make shift stage in my local coffee shop.

Good work.

I agree ... &mdash 03/17/06 - 08:01:32 PM
with TBIvans .. I am totally hearing Neil Young here .. what I am enjoying most about your tunes (yes I've now listened to a few) .. but will do a "collective comment on this one" ..... is the natural "live" sound that is captured in the recording ... no fancy FX .... just a natural sounding vocal and instrument ..... the best kind of music to me .... I can feel the heartfelt emotion that goes into your singing style .... (I bet you sing with your eyes closed too ....) .... good stuff ... keep em coming !

Nice ploy though - I'm still impressed - I like the doubling of your
you... Thus far, I hear some very heartfelt performances - Who are
some of your infuences? I'm truly curious - Dion
