Description:
basic tracks for a new song---still needs a rockin' gtr part -maybe an arpeggiator thing on intro-whatever--dedicated to all macjammers!
Lyrics:
this is not the end:
listen to what might have been...
there is something you should know:
all my friends were 45 rpm's...
remember them/when you feel alone...
then step up to the microphone
and drown out /all the shame and doubt
just tell the truth about
who or what you're missing...
how you're trying to be strong,
but you're dying to belong...
and survive all that pride
and this ambition...
because enough/is not enough
we work and love/until we're all used up...
we push and shove/until there is only one...
-there is only one way left: step up...
there is time/for you/for everyone...
you're second chance/has finally come...
like a kind of valentine/a kind of fame...
that misery makes/then obliterates...
this is not the end...

ok started crying by the end of the 3rd line of lyrics.. great lyrics and your voice is beautiful. some nice lead guitar might be nice. it almost has a folky vocal style like jack johnson, think thats the person i mean. this is great.
Macaudion
Man you're putting out some solid stuff. This is just right on, J.

There's lots of good emotion in your voice.... and this is a great
starting place for a tune. I hear some R.E.M influence in your
melody. It's quite nice. I think the tune could really get some
wings and take off but right now it feels a little flat. Lots of
potential though.

Please don't ever stop posting your music here. It's such a joy to see
what you do with every single element; you're even an excellent
hummer. :-)
Listening to your music makes me very happy. You're so mysterious,
but your songs reveal a little of you at a time and this one adds to your
story. I'm so glad that you share it so freely and I appreciate every
single song you post.
I think you're right that some electric gtr might be a nice addition.
Have you ever considered collaborating with another MJ-er? I know that
you could probably do it yourself (actually, I know you could) but it
might be fun to hear your music combined with another musician's,
too. I can think of several guitarists that would jump at the chance.
One of my favorite things about your songs are some of the rhymes
you write. My favorite one in this song is friends/rpm's. I bow down
before your sense of sound. Beautiful.

As ledebutant has so elegantly put it, you seem to %u201Cwork in miniature,%u201D
creating musical tableaus that seemingly spotlight somewhat incidental
retrospections.
Just so I'm clear about this... I LIKE YOUR WORK. It's pithy, personal and
pleasing... and it's well-done. While I can't pretend to know WTF is
*viable* within the current music jungle, what I DO know tells me you
would have a good chance to find an audience for your music.
While your poignant lyrics tend to be somewhat ambiguous, even
abstruse at times, they are poetic --- and I sense, very introspective
--- mining the wealth of your own life experiences.
It is a remarkable gift to be able to recognize, retrieve and report these
personal observations in such an artful manner... and a tool for healing
the fractures that life's uneven episodes leave on our psyches.
Thanx for sharing.
Now, about the length... ;-)

Sounds as though somebody tumbled through an emotional vortex and is now on the other side, dusting himself or herself off and looking onward with hope. I really dig that. Circumtances end, people mostly keep going. Second chances
Great transitions in the track. You have a superb knack for having a song go through changes the most appropriate, seemless way. Like the ga-zillion ways a song can turn, you pick the right turn.
%u201Chow you're trying to be strong,
but you're dying to belong...%u201D
I like these lines because of the emotion. A closer look reveals quite a number of rhyming connections.
it reminds me of these lines, probably my favorite lines by you.
%u201Csomeone stole my candy necklace,
someone told me sweethearts say this%u201D
I didn%u2019t care for %u2018poppa bear%u2019 stuff in the beginning. Some more guitar would have been cool in those spots you mentioned.
dedicated to all macjammers...
Thanks mister. x
mister. x,...The mysterious mister x....stay a mystery.

Macjammer that will land a recording contract...if you want it.

One of the best songs, ever. The arrangement, the textures and melodies, your heartfelt performances and the words are just perfect. The production is sweet too, for a draft - I can't wait to see where you go with this.
aclarke
Well, by normal Jonx standards, that is. Two words... as they would say it
here in New England... Wicked Pissah!
PS- I think LeDeb wants you... for a collab, I mean.
ledebutant
I don't play the guitar, so I'm not sure why you'd say that, Adam. Jonx said he
was thinking of adding more guitar and I thought it would be fun for the
listening audience to hear him work with another MJ-er.
aclarke
I was just funnin' ya! :) Though I do think your voices would go very well
together.

Great song, beautifully sung and produced - can't add anything more
that hasn't already been said. Very interested to see where this goes
from here!
Love it! Neil

very fresh, original, moving. I didn't cry or nuthin, but I sure felt it. Was this done on GarageBand? REal good stuff, for sure.
spacekev
This is an excellent song. Great songwriting and great sound. I
don't know if this will make any sense, but it has a Minneapolis
feel to it and I love it.

Nice song; great voice. Love the drums. How did you do them? This
track has a really good sound, though I reckon something could be
tweaked with the EQing to make it instantly better. Unfortunately I
can't help you because I'm crap at EQing. Liked it, though.
ilovetheo
i feel that the beginning is beautiful and maybe you should stick with a
slower beat because i feel your voice is swallowed by the drums. your
voice will be under appreciated if you over do the louder stuff in the
background.
ifmusiconline
but it's ok

you have a great quality to your voice. very emotional. the song builds
and sucks you in, enjoyed the off time drumming. wonderful lyrics and
overall production. if your playing all the tracks here, then thats even
more impressive. respectfully

I cant believe i missed this song when it was posted. It might be my favourite Joan track! I think i might have called you guys a "psychedelic Rem" before... This time i dont find it so psychedelic but i think i can hear some Rem in this! I envy you guys the band that you are playing in, it sounds like you are so well connected in a way. I really like that intro youve got there, it flows so smoothly over to the song part. That voice is very good and the lyrics as well! This is just great song that i am very glad that i finally got to!

Another fragment of soul, devastatingly true and forthright while
profound and poetic. Damn. So good.
EdensEve
A worthy anthem for all macjammers. Your fan base deserves to grow and grow!

feel free to e-mail me with a more comprehensive bio... cause you've
set the hook... if you ever want anything that I can do... not that you'd
need me... wonderful stuf... the guitars sound rich, the drums sound
great... I'm off to the next song....

The more I search the talent on MacJams, the more I feel I been missing. Your are a great talent! The lyrics are great, and the drum accents are a added asset . . .
WOW!
