Description:
My first song using GarageBand, love the world of digital recording..I wrote this song about 14 years ago. I've been away from music for a while, with family and such, found garageband and it's brought me back.

Lyrics:
Sitting by the window still
The thoughts of her running through his mind
He can see her smile
and hear her voice
And he feels the pain….

The time since her death
Prayed his body be so numb
And that all of his memories were dead
Sitting By the window….by the window

Sitting by the window sill
The time for tears has long since gone
But the tears still come
He can’t move on
Left behind and so afraid

As stars start to glow
And the city lights shine far away
Wishing all of his memories were dead
Sitting by the window.

As stars start to glow
And the city lights shine far away
If only the memories were dead
Sitting by the window

reminds me of reo speedwagon. beautiful lyrics, voice is nice. in the first part it sounds a bit awkward when you say he because its rather low, it sounded weird and out of place to me. glad you came back to music, it may take a break from our lives, but it's a great thing to always have there when you need it.

you are so original. i mean don't you not sound like matchbox20 which is
what my 50 yr old aunt listens to. i mean recorded well but who's gonna
give you a contract.
14 yrs is way long to be away from music so maybe you out of date.
maybe you should change sounds. listen to the shins and try something
new! ballads are done

Quite beautiful &mdash 03/02/06 - 09:36:09 AM
Hey, there, fellow newbie. There has also been about 10 years since I wrote my last song. Isn't it nice to reconnect to the muse.

I really liked this piece. You sing very well, very emotionally, without being overdone. I wonder if the song would feel better supported with some bass. The cello is nice, but I could have used more of it.

Nice work, though!

Very lovely piece &mdash 03/21/06 - 08:18:09 PM
I'm afraid I couldn't listen to this while I was sad, it's just too melancholy.
Your voice started out a little tight, and warmed up by the third verse.
This is a great first post! The instrumentation was fantastic and the mix
was very well done. Hope to hear more from you.

listening to this for repeated listening &mdash 04/08/06 - 10:52:12 AM
My first time to hear this song through the mystery macjammers. I
clicked on it and I'm pleasantly surprised to come upon a gem I've
missed in my intermittent tours around here. It's like stumbling upon
a precious thing.

I like ballads, especially those that are well-written and well-sung.
Your lyrics are straigthforward sentimental and melody is introspective
and sad, and you sang it with one of the clearest and most emotional
voices I've heard here in Macjams. Believe me, I know what i'm saying
when I compliment someone for having a great voice, 'cause i sing in
all my songs and it is sometimes hard to make it sound that crystal
clear. You have good vocal styling, has a pop appeal to it and i can
easily discern that oyu have good vocal range. I think this song needs
a little harmonizing though, especially in the choral/refrain part, to
give it a little highlight or build in certain areas.

You solo voice alone carries this song, but you also have great piano-
playing. Strings are nice, but they could have been layered with a
counterpoint strings in the lower register (which is what i've been
advised too in the past when I was just starting). Not sure if this song
needs some drums, but it would be good to try how that will sound. I
imagine it will probably add more punch and drama to your soaring
vocals.

Overall, this song is miles and miles ahead of most starters at
Macjams. This song goes as a fav in my list. Hope you churn out more
great songs for us sentimental folks to listen to.

listening to this for repeated listening &mdash 04/10/06 - 07:13:20 AM
Wow, Thanks for the complimpents. I'm glad to have found a fellow ballad lover out there. Your right there is something missing in this song and I'm still trying to figure it out. Maybe a little supporting vocals is what it needs...I do have a low-end string cello sounding piece in the song but it's so hard to mix for different sound systems. I listen to this song in my car and the low end music jumps out. Then I listen to it on headphones and it can sound much different. Thanks for the kind words though. I'm mid way through my next song now. I'll be sure to check out some of your stuff :-)

Top notch ballad songwriting &mdash 04/11/06 - 06:05:50 AM
Really nice song, wonderful piano ballad, progression and playing, and
very nice vocal performance. I especially like the song construction and
you voice. Your use of piano and low strings is very nice. The higher
strings had a strong MIDI feel and static quality that, in my ears, detracted
from the lushness of the rest of the track; I would have used a Juno pad or
something with more delicacy and movement capture the feeling. (MP3
compression also boosts mid-hi frequencies, making them harsh.) This
could be a great power ballad, is already a wonderful intimate singer-
songwriter ballad, and is top notch writing.
