Description:
Another shoebox song. Wrote it in college after a very bad breakup and before flunking out. Good times. First use of my shiny new Alesis compressor.

Lyrics:
Love was new
Me and you
Hearts entwined together
We were one
Now I stare
Empty air
Can't believe how far I let the feelings run
Loose my fist
From your wrist
Tongue tied and silent
Pull away
Rolls reverse
Now I thirst
For the love
Caring touch
Yesterday

I walk for miles in solitude
Lonliness my sole étude
I can play that tune with quite amazing skill
How I long to shield my eyes
From the pain, from the lies
From the emptiness that only you can fill
If you only will

I thought you said my love would be
The only thing to set you free
Only I would be allowed to share your heart
I'm standing outside wanting in
Wishing that we could begin
A life just like we were
When we were at the start

When love was new
Me and you
Limbs and minds together
Beating still
Inside one heart.

would be nice to have some harmonies or intertwining melodies on the
chorus, both thematically and musically. good work

I considered having harmony in the chorus, but decided I wanted just the one voice. It's a song about loneliness and feeling isolated. I played around with adding chorus to the vocals in spots, but what sounded the best to me was just the plain voice. Thanks for the listen and the comment!

I feel harmony and love in this nice song.
You have done a gret work on this tune
I have nothing to complain about the
production and performance.
Very nice...very nice, indeed.

This is quality stuff. Beautifully played and sung. A keeper. Only one
complaint---guitar solo sounds synthed. That never quite works for me.
But overall excellent!

I hear you about the solo; there's a reason that it sounds like a synth. If only I had a guitar, and could play it. I'm hoping someone will give the tune a listen and volunteer to lay one down for me.

Man, we've all been there... &mdash 03/01/06 - 06:21:33 PM
...and had this feeling. Nice job of capturing it. Love the piano intro. Great
vocals. Love the lyrics. I'd be interested in hearing some backing vocals.
Not too much, but a couple of strategically places harmonies, maybe and
ooh or an aah, just to see if it worked. The only burr for me was the
"guitar." The sythn voice isn't too bad, but it seems a little too out in
front. Still, doesn't take away from a beautifuly heartfelt song. Excellent.

Thanks. some non-verbal background vocal might be nice addition that I didn't think about. Gonna give that some thought. Maybe pulling back the syn-tar might make it sound less obviously fake. Unless someone wants to lay down a solo for me.

Sometimes reminded me of Dennis DeYoung's voice. Really emotional lyric. Good stuff.

Thanks

This is the first Styx comparison I've ever gotten. Domo arigato.
