Description:
Kind of a demo of something that's been in my head the last couple of weeks. I guess it's about coping with what you have.

Lyrics:

The cellar door is open wide and lettin in the rain
and the muffled cry of electric light is driving me insane
mark a point in the eastern sky and follow it to the moon
and in the west ill do the same, ill mark a crater off for you
ill mark a crater off for you

I know why you say
walkin round in circles is the only way
i know why you say
a conditional reality is hard to face
you sharpened every ear drum in this quiet place

February's run its course I think the sun is here to stay
now body bags filled with heart attacks will leave the coroner good and paid
the avenue's still pumping blood, the cars are arteries in the street
the exit ramp's bring the oxygen out to the outer extremeties

i know why you say
walkin round in circles is the only way
i know why you say
ink as black as night is hard to erase
you sharpened every pencil in this denim case

I didn't think I'd like this song when it started, but it grew on me fairly quickly. Some of the lyrics are quite good -

"Mark a point in the eastern sky and follow it to the moon,
And in the west I'll do the same, I'll mark a crater off for you."

I like that. It's not spectacular, but it's a simple description of emotion and it made me smile.

"You sharpened every pencil in this denim case."

I have no idea what that means, or what the relevance is to the meaning of song, but for some reason I love this line. I can't understand why, but it gives me a little chill.

I think the electric guitar melody might be a tad too loud, but only a little, and it doesn't affect the song much. The lo-fi quality of the acoustic works well with the song.

I'll check out some of your other stuff.

Thanks Matt.

I am not quite sure I can definitively explain what the words mean.
Initially, I had written the chorus and had liked the way it sounded, and I
kinda wrote the rest of the song around it.

The line about he pencil speaks to the notion of being able to revise what
you say and do in life. If you use a pen, it's there forever. A pencil,
however, grants one the ability to erase and start over.

Thanks for stopping by.
